Significant changes to Medicaid are coming in 2027, with the potential to create new barriers to health care and other essential services for Placer County residents.

Instead of waiting to see where the gaps emerge, our community is preparing now.

With support from Placer Community Foundation’s Community Needs Fund, the Health Planning Workgroup brings together hospitals, health care providers, county agencies, philanthropic organizations and community-based nonprofits through the Placer Collaborative Network.

Together, these partners are sharing real-time data, identifying potential service gaps and developing coordinated strategies to help protect access to care for vulnerable residents.

The goal is to build a stronger, more connected local safety net before the largest changes take effect—so organizations can respond as one network rather than as individual agencies trying to solve the same problems on their own.

As the health care landscape changes, this kind of preparation and collaboration will be critical to keeping Placer County healthy, resilient and ready for what comes next.

Big changes are coming to Medi-Cal in Placer County, and our community partners are getting ahead of them.

This week, the PCN Health Planning Workgroup dug into the 2027 UIS Medi-Cal transition, HR1 retention strategies, and progress from our new Enrollment Network — all aimed at helping residents keep the coverage they depend on.

We had a great turnout at this morning's PCN Networking Mixer at the Maidu Community Center! Thank you to everyone who came out, made new connections, and brought such great energy to the room. We were thrilled to have 50 organizations represented, with so many new faces joining us alongside familiar partners. 🙌🤝
