Friends of Moores Mill Creek

Friends of Moores Mill Creek We're a group that is trying to take care of Moores Mill Creek, a 10-mile creek that runs through Opelika and Auburn, Alabama. (link in bio).

The Friends of Moores Mill Creek is committed to will helping clean our local waterway and plan for its future. This group formed as part of a larger effort to update the Moores Mill Creek watershed plan and reduce the amount of sediment entering the creek. The Auburn University Water Resources Center and the Auburn University (AU) Department of Civil Engineering are working with various local and

regional partners in the Auburn-Opelika area to make improvements in land use around the stream that could ultimately help improve water quality. The project, which started in late 2023, is funded in part by a Clean Water Act 319(h) grant from the Alabama Department of Environmental Management Nonpoint Source Unit. Join us in helping update the watershed plan and conducting education and outreach initiatives to engage the community in understanding the local waterways and learning how to prevent pollution. Join our mailing list to stay up to date!
