Wednesday afternoon, we were encouraged to go out and see downtown. We left after my last class. Uber rides are much cheaper here than the US. We were able to hire to Uber rides to get there and back. We went to Rossio Square and the surrounding area. We went down to the coast of the Tagus River.

Great morning. Our church supports this pastor and his church in Lisbon. Sherri is head of the missions committee at our church so it was double good to go see Pastor Pedro Barbosa, his church, and his family. We were able to talk about his future plans. We were blessed!

Part three: I gave my iPad on my lap to ensure I am correctly naming the places we went. 😉 the acting school administrator and her husband took us out today. I forgot to get a picture of all four of us. Next we headed to Cascais which is the Atlantic Ocean coast. The Monument of the Duscoveries is on the Tagus River which runs through Lisbon. Our guides took us to their favorite tourist shops. We were able to buy a few souvenirs. Then Mike climbed the rocks near the ocean. Our guides had hoped to take us the Cabo da Roca, which is the west most point of the European mainland. Roads were closed due to recent hurricanes; we did not get there,

Part two: within walking distance is the Lisbon Cathedral. We skipped the VERY long line for a tour. We went in for free and walked around. The we went to the most famous bakery in Lisbon: Pasteis de Belem. The sitting area is being renovated so we got a package to go. They were very good!

Part one: we did get out and do some sightseeing today. We started at The Monument to the Discoveries in Belém (area in Lisbon). The Monument features 32 historical features. Prince Henry the Navigator was responsible for the early exploration of the Portuguese Empire.

We arrived Sunday morning local time. Monday was prep day for Sherri. She will begin teaching on Tuesday. Sherri will teach grammar to middle school and high school. Mike is doing the various jobs they give him.
