The Warrior Research Center is happy to welcome Uthra Balamurugan to the team! Uthra graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Exercise and Sports Science in 2026. While at UGA, she was involved with the Sports Psychology Laboratory and interned with Olympic Sports Strength and Conditioning. Her research interests lie in enhancing physical performance. During her time here at Auburn, she will serve as the GA helping out with the Auburn Fire and Police programs.

The Warrior Research Center is happy to welcome Awantika Baniya to the team! Awantika is a physiotherapist from Nepal who earned her bachelor's degree in physiotherapy in 2023. After graduation, she gained clinical experience working in a neurorehabilitation unit and served as a team physiotherapist for a soccer club during a national-level competition, focusing on injury management and performance optimization. Her research interests center on the effects of exercise on neuromuscular function, particularly its role in injury prevention, functional performance, and recovery.

The WRC would like to introduce our team member, doctoral student Doug Terza! Doug earned his B.A. in Anthropology and M.S. in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology from the University of Florida in 2012 and 2015, respectively. Since 2016, he has worked with the Department of Defense as both a contractor and civilian. He currently serves as the Director of the Armed Forces Wellness Center at Fort Benning, the Defense Health Agency's health promotion program focused on the primary prevention of lifestyle-related disease and injury to help sustain a medically ready force. His current research focuses on the effectiveness of health promotion programs within the military health system, specifically the factors differentiating individuals who utilize Armed Forces Wellness Centers and their associated health, wellness, and performance outcomes.

Supporters of Army Athletic Trainers

My contacts tell me that they are once again working to cut H2F AT contracts. Funding change have resulted in money being moved from H2F to other new programs - and folks around the SG's office are jumping on this opportunity to try to cut the ATs again. Seriously, this has to stop and these positions must become GS positions. Our Soldiers are way to important for these stupid battles.

Please reach out to anyone that can speak for the important work ATs do. The biggest impact last time came from our Commanders, but all voices count. Please share widely and let's stop this before they get started. Thank you!
