Please send in comments to the BLM before the extended deadline.

DEADLINE EXTENDED - JULY 5TH! Make your comments now!

The Bureau of Land Management has proposed a new rule that would be a major alteration to their land management policy.

The BLM is proposing to allow for the creation of something they are calling “conservation leases” - we have many concerns about how the proposal seems to suggest the transfer of management of public land and bypasses existing policies and procedures.

See a list of Major Points you can use to make comments on our website:

WOHVA needs your letters NOW to support their two-track trail maintenance grant requests. Your Washington Off Highway Vehicle Alliance is once again requesting grant funds to support two-track trail maintenance in Washington State. We need to continue the great work begun in 2018 with our first grant and building on our current grants in 2020.
This is our third grant cycle and the first where we’re now not partnering with the Northwest Motorcycle Association for support letters. While we may still share some services and efficiencies, both organizations have matured and continue to support each other but have removed some complexity with our individual approaches.
Off Highway Vehicle (OHV) trails on public land here in WA State are just not receiving enough maintenance. ATV, SxS and 4WD trail use this past year continues to increase, stressing our public resources. With Federal and State budget challenges, trail maintenance is not at the top of their list. The backlog of trail maintenance is growing and additional resources are needed.
WOHVA and the NMA created heavy maintenance crews to address backlogged maintenance on single and two-track USFS and DNR trails statewide. They’re working with land managers to provide an HMC mini-excavator team as well as the necessary support funding. They’ve added support in 2020 grants for volunteer work projects (food, equipment, and other more).
Now that great work needs YOUR support letters to gain approval in this next grant cycle. These are our grant requests for the 2022 grant cycle:

WOHVA 2022 Grant Requests

NOVA 22-2200 WOHVA 2 Track Heavy Maint. Crew
NOVA 22-2201 WOHVA 2 Track Maint. Volunteer Support
These grants provide equipment and logistics to help our public land managers harness the energy of user-based funding (NOVA) and users themselves providing support for volunteer work projects. It’s been evident this past year that there’s a LOT of volunteer energy available from our members and user groups.
If this sounds like something you can support, please help us BEFORE OCT. 29th by:
1) EMAIL - Send an email expressing your personal, organization’s, club’s or OHV-related business support for our two NOVA grant applications to [email protected]. Include the grant numbers and why you support them.
2) SHARE - Share this request for support letters with your other OHV-positive affiliations.
3) HELP WANTED - Spread the word that we have PAID positions open now for HMC Equipment Operators, Swampers and Volunteer Work Party leaders. These are funded by YOUR funds in both the current and 2022 proposed grants! Contact [email protected].
Thank you, Bryan Peterson, WOHVA President

Think of WOHVA on Giving Tuesday! We need your help to hire full-time support staff, equipment operators & trail experts. Your donations will help us professionally represent all OHV users across WA...we want to be on an even playing field with the extremely well funded hiking, mountain bike & environmental organizations, BUT we can't do that on RCO grants alone! Please donate TODAY and then encourage your friends & businesses you shop with to do the same!

Do you own a SxS or ATV? Did you know they are legal on groomed snowmobile trails if they have tracks? Check out the info our friends at WSSA Washington State Snowmobile Association shared!

Now that tracked ATVs/UTVs are legal on the snowmobile trail system, it is time to better educate this new user group. The goal is two-fold.
First, let them know they need to register as snowmobiles. Second, to help them better interact with their fellow trail users. WSSA has created this info sheet to help. Our goal is to get it posted in sno-parks, warming huts, at dealers, and anywhere else that may be appropriate. If you'd like to make copies of this sheet, a PDF version is linked at www.wssa.

Our Story

The Washington Off Highway Vehicle Alliance (WOHVA) was formed in 2006 in response to decreasing numbers of riding areas and government misuse of OHV specific funds. WOHVA is an alliance of 4x4, SxS, ATV & offroad motorcycle users...our membership includes clubs, organizations & businesses. We represent thousands of users from all across WA State!

What does WOHVA do for you?

We actively work with land managers (DNR, USFS & more) to assure OHV needs are represented. Our brand-new Heavy Maintenance Crew (HMC) is going to change the game & increase support for OHV volunteers already on the ground. Membership in WOHVA also supports OHV issues in Olympia. We are one alliance bringing together 4x4, SxS, ATV & offroad motorcycle users. There is strength in numbers!
