A new rent relief program will be administered by New York State. This will cover about one month’s rent if you missed payment between April, and July. Follow the link below for more information. We look forward to continuing to assist our local rental community, and keep as many people in their homes as possible!

The COVID Rent Relief Program will provide eligible households with a one-time rental subsidy that will be sent directly to the household’s landlord. Applicants will not need to repay this assistance.

95% of the tenants of our membership have paid April rent. WE’D LIKE TO SAY THANK YOU! As long as this pandemic continues to affect the employment income of some, it’s essential that people continue to open, honest communication making the payments they can afford. THIS ENABLES US TO GIVE BREAKS TO THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN HARSHLY IMPACTED, AND ON BEHALF OF THOSE INDIVIDUALS, AND FAMILIES, WE THANK YOU AGAIN. Stay safe, stay home if you can, and we’ll look forward to doing more fair business with you. If you know a landlord or tenant who can use guidance feel free to reach out to the Cayuga County Landlord Association.

Tenants are calling on state and federal leaders to cancel rent for the duration of the coronavirus crisis.

Notice to all Cayuga County tenants:

Due to the Coronavirus it has become necessary to make a formal statement on your rights and responsibilities.

With modifications by temporary laws we are informing you that rent and all other charges will still be due on the date your agreement calls for.

If your employment has changed due to recent changes please contact your landlord and make them aware of these changes, when you will be able to pay, and how you plan to resolve this as a team.

It’s necessary that those of us in the Cayuga County housing community serve each other’s needs and prevent unwanted surprises. Those of you with guaranteed income are expected to pay as normally scheduled.

All of us, especially the 61 landlords in the county association are staying in contact and relying on each other for help to keep your accounts as current as possible.

Stay calm, and healthy, and we’ll look forward to doing more to assist you and your family while continuing to do business with you!

If you have any concerns, questions or issues with your rental obligation, please contact us as soon as possible.

AUBURN — Although a proposed rental registry is still a work in progress, concern from landlords and rental unit owners still lingers, and the proposal remains off city council agenda.
