The Campus Kitchen at Auburn University is helping to fight hunger in the Auburn community. http://www.auburn.edu/outreach/ops/campuskitchens/

The Campus Kitchen at Auburn University is a leader in community service for students and resourceful anti-hunger programs for the Auburn and Lee County areas. What we do is kind of a no-brainer. We know there are people in every community who need nourishing meals. Also, we know that our college campus has unserved food in its dining halls and brilliant students in its classrooms- so we put these all together. We empower our students each year to recycle food from dining halls and on-campus restaurants, turn these donations into nourishing meals, and deliver those meals to those who need it most. The best part is that we run the whole show. We plan the menus, acquire the food, run the cooking shifts, organize the drivers, and teach about food insecurity. We keep track of all paperwork, organize fundraisers, invest in the community, and recruit new students to get involved. We accomplish an incredible amount of work every day. At the end of it all, we hope to take these skills into our jobs when we graduate.
