After 4 days of competition, new friendships, laughter, and fun, State Masters Games have come to a close.

The picture below is of the last one’s standing from the Civic Center events: Domino Doubles. They finished at 11:00.

Our Bowlers were the final event this year, finishing around 11:30 am.

The staff of Trussville Parks & Recreation were outstanding hosts this year, who made everyone feel welcome and at home. They were our “home away from home” this week and we are all excited about coming back next year!!

We would like to send a special thanks to all the Board Members, Parks and Rec staff, and especially the participants that volunteered to help. As many of you saw this week, it takes a lot of people to help with the games. We had a lot of participants helping with the events!

On Tuesday night, we celebrated this year’s Masters Games of Alabama Hall of Fame inductees. Pictures of the plaque presentations are below. We are proud to know these inductees and honored that they have helped bring so much fun to Masters Games through the years.

There are so many women playing Shuffleboard each year that we need to divide them into 2 separate days. We did the age groups of 50 – 69 today.

It took 3.5 hours to complete their competition! The new courts we started using last year have really helped to speed up the games. We would like to send a special thanks to all the volunteers that helped the day run smoother by helping to keep score.

The new portable courts are much easier to use than the gym floor courts we used in the past. You can tell by looking at the high scores we had today. Top scores included:

State Masters Games has officially begun!

Booking is a little different for rooms, this year. The cheapest rates may not be found by calling the hotel directly to book.

District 4 Masters Games completed their events today. It was day 3 of of their fun-filled competition.

It was great to see everyone cheering each other on at the Basketball Free Throw this morning. You could tell that everyone had made a lot of new friends this week!

One highlight of the day was at the Women’s 75 - 79 year age group’s Basketball Free Throw. Mrs. Sue Campeaux scored 9 out of 10 Basketball Free Throws!!!

With Jacksonville Senior Activity Center, Anniston Senior-Therapeutic Center, Oxford Parks and Recreation, and East Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission.
