In the year 2041, the fate of Antarctica will be decided.

Join us for the remaining 20 years of our 50-year mission to preserve Antarctica as a natural reserve for science and peace. The 2041 Foundation was founded by polar explorer and environmentalist Robert Swan, the first person to walk to both the North and South Poles. It was Swan’s original expedition to the South Pole that was the inspiration for 2041, an organization he founded and dedicated to the preservation of the polar regions.

In its very first season of operation, the Ocean Victory vessel is 60% more efficient than other ships it’s size. It has been an amazing experience & privilege being on board for our expedition south. The 2041 Foundation is offsetting 1.4x the C02 it took to get here in the spirit of leaving this place better than we found it.

These past few days the team has been watching in anticipation as vessels sail down the beagle channel. Finally it is our turn!! Bags are packed and the expedition team is ready to set sail through the drake passage to Antarctica. All hands on deck!!! Onwards and downwards.

Final preparations are coming together for the expedition team to meet in Ushuaia in two weeks! 39 countries will be represented. A global gathering broadcasting accessible solutions and a message of hope for our shared future. Deeply respecting both the pandemic and the unfolding crisis in Ukraine, we are determined to deliver the program safely.

As icebergs melt, they leak nutrients into the ocean around them. Recent studies have shown that the water surrounding icebergs teems with plankton, fish, and other sea life. Amazing to think what lurks beneath these floating mountains of ice.
