Alabama Rural Ministry ARM builds servant leaders through home repair ministry. We send out volunteers serving with struggling families and restore their homes to warm, safe, and dry.
(1)

We restore their hope in people and the Church. Come extend an ARM of Christ's love with us! Build more: servant leaders, sustainable homes and strong families for God's glory! ARM uses servant leadership and service-learning models as the main form of discipleship ministry which then helps families receive vital home repairs. The goal is to make their homes warm, safe, dry, and beautiful while sharing God's love and his Gospel. ARM provides serving learning opportunities for churches, youth groups, college teams, businesses, and other non-profits with home repair, housing, and children's activities and shows how and why poverty affects these families and want we can collectively do about it. Come and serve with us:

We so enjoyed serving with the Auburn Wesley Foundation Thursday Night for their Mission Thursday Night Dinner (TND). They worked in teams and built three sets of book shelves to give to families in the community. They paired that with a Bible study discussion on giving and receiving. We so enjoyed partnerships with students who are committed to giving of themselves for God’s glory!

Everyone needs and should have a healthy home! Healthy homes have solid and sealed roofs, are warm and cool at the right seasons, and have floors that are safe and sturdy. But that is not always the case with our most vulnerable and disadvantaged neighbors. So, we are going to the shacks and living in them so that neighbors get needed repairs. Our goal of $200,000 will help us repair homes for 25-40 families. Here is how you can plug in:
Give: Donate online or send a check to Alabama Rural Ministry

📣 📣 URGENT CALL FOR STORM CLEAN-UP VOLUNTEERS FROM Alabama-West Florida Conference UMC

Our churches and communities desperately need your help!

In the aftermath of Hurricane Isaias, several United Methodist churches and properties throughout the Alabama-West Florida Conference have experienced significant damage. The needs are overwhelming, and we are issuing an urgent appeal for volunteers who can help with cleanup and recovery efforts.

You do NOT have to be UMCOR Early Response Team (ERT) trained to help with these specific needs.

We have an immediate need for:

Debris removal: Volunteers to help clear fallen trees, limbs and storm debris from church properties and surrounding areas. A rake, yard bags, or a leaf blower are all you need. If gas operated, please bring with you.

Heavy equipment: Individuals or teams with access to heavy equipment to assist with large-scale debris removal.

Chainsaw operators: Experienced individuals who can safely cut and remove fallen trees and limbs.

Roof tarping: Volunteers installing temporary roof coverings to prevent further damage.

If you have the skills, equipment or willingness to serve, we need you!

Our United Methodist churches are hurting, and we have an opportunity to come together as the connectional church to offer hope, encouragement and practical assistance.

If you can help in any way, please contact Joe Davis at [email protected] or (334) 734-5353 as soon as possible.

We are so grateful to our partnership with the Auburn University Building Science students (BSCI). Each semester, their service-learning class sponsors one of our neighbors and repairs their home. This semester, they are working with Ms. R. in Notasulga. She is widowed and serves as a Head Start instructor. Her roof began leaking and some of her exterior siding was damaged. The students have put on a new roof and wrapping up the exterior repairs.

We love how the students focus on building connections and sharing kindness. As they work alongside their professors in the building portion, as a team, they also connect with each other. Their heart to serve others is so rich and evident!

We also give our Building Science students a huge shoutout for winning the building competition with Appalachia Service Project (ASP) and Habitat for Humanity at the Race to Build Competition at the Bristol TN Speedway.

Thanks AU BSCI!
