I am so excited to share this update on the Perquin Schools with you!

This May, I was able to visit the schools in person and see the incredible change your generous donations have made. Thank you so much! The children and the community of Perquin are extremely grateful for all you are doing and wish to relay the following message: “Extendemos nuestra gratitud por su continuo apoyo y donación. Esto ha sido una gran bendición para las escuelas de Perquin. Tenga en cuenta que estamos eternamente agradecidos y que aprovecharemos al máximo esta beca. Atentamente: Arístides Ramos.”

Translation: “We extend our gratitude for your continued support and donation. This has been a great blessing to the Perquin schools. Please know that we are eternally grateful and will make the most of this scholarship. Sincerely: Aristides Ramos.”

To date, the community of Perquin has contributed 360 hours of volunteer service. These hours were used to put up a retaining wall, restore and renovate school infrastructure, build 25 new desks and a large bookcase.

We shared with you the desk update last year. We are happy to announce that the road and infrastructure project is now complete. The community was able to build a much needed retaining wall, a chain linked fence, and an electricity pole. These infrastructure updates will allow the children to get to school during heavy rains, increase school security, and after many years– this school and community now has electricity! There is so much to celebrate!

During my travels to Perquin, El Salvador, I was encouraged to apply for another grant and I am so happy to announce that we received another $1000 grant from Burners Without Borders. These funds will help complete a final phase of the project which includes (15) scholarships for the students, school supplies, and a very special celebration for “El Día Del Niño” (coming soon) that I feel will bring the community together and place focus on the importance of education in this community.

We originally requested $3,000 to complete the final phase of this project. Now we are asking our community to help us to raise the final $2,000 to complete this project.

During this back to school season, we would love for you to consider donating once again in support of this project that is an important and meaningful part of my life.

Perquin School Project

Good evening to all.

I am proud to inform you that the money raised last year by California Dreamers, Connected By Our Humanity, Sacramento Valley Spark, and Burners Without Borders, is achieving its purpose and has shown great success! 👏🏼

The schools in Perquín are located in a unique location and an especially unique situation. The lands they inhabit were overtaken by Honduras after the Salvadoran Civil War. This left the Salvadoran people in a peculiar circumstance because they identified as Salvadoran but are no longer protected by their birth nation nor were they accepted by the Honduran government which they were usurped upon. As a result, typical public amenities like schools began to slowly deteriorate and children, in particular, began lacking more resources over time.

Your support has been essential to the renovation of these two schools! I am forever grateful to every single one of you who has donated and/or bought Pupusas! THANK YOU!

I would also like to extend a Thank You to Aristides Ramos. For donating his time and energy in ensuring that the funds were used accordingly and for managing the projects. Thank you, Aristides!

As well as Patrick Noder. For inspiring us and enabling us to bring this vision to fruition. Thank you, Patrick!

New leadership in the White House and Congress means we can win permanent protections, for our immigrant families and loved ones, but only if we apply pressure to hold lawmakers accountable.

The Biden administration and Congress must do what is right and ensure that America lives up to its promises and values of liberty and justice for all by passing citizenship for all 11 million undocumented immigrants who call our country home. Now is the time for us to mobilize and hold the Biden administration accountable to our community.

THANK YOU!

On behalf of California Dreamers and myself, I would like to formally thank every single person who helped organize, volunteered, and donated to the two schools in Perquin! Special thank you to Burners Without Borders, Connected By Our Humanity, and Sacramento Valley Spark for partnering with California Dreamers and helping this fundraiser!

I am so excited to announce that we were able to raise a total of $4,157.00!! 👏🏼

I am currently working with the Perquin community to distribute the funds starting with school desks, repainting the schools and fixing infrastructure. As this project moves forward, I will provide updates with pictures of the two schools and the many exciting changes to come!

We had a successful and fun first night selling Pupusas 🫓 at the Sacramento Valley Spark Drive Thru. But we still have the 2nd night tonight! This fundraiser will help the schools in Perquin, El Salvador and help 92 students.

We will be selling Pupusas at the the Spring Drive-Thru next weekend May 21st-22nd from 8pm-12am and raise funds for TWO schools in El Salvador.

We need volunteers! Volunteers will also be able to rotate shifts so that they may also enjoy the event. If you're interested in volunteering and not far from the Rancho Cordova area sign up and we will reach out to you.

Excited to announce that CA Dreamers will be participating in the Spring Park Drive-Thru event on May 21st and May 22nd.

We will be partnering with Sacramento Valley Spark, Connected By Our Humanity, and the Burners Without Borders Sacramento Region Chapter to fundraise for the Perquin El Salvador School. We will be cooking and selling Pupusa's during the event! We are in need of VOLUNTEERS for the event.
