What do we mean when we say we partner on projects that are economically viable and sustainable? 🌍

We mean Healthbridge Global does not adopt projects that depend on Western funding forever.

Our role is often to help with the initial lift: the building, equipment, training, or strategic support needed to help a locally-led healthcare project take root.

We look for projects with a plan to become financially sustainable within their own local economy.

That may look different from place to place. It might include affordable patient fees, local partnerships, income-generating services, community support, or a clinic model designed around the realities of the region.

The goal is not just to start something good. The goal is to strengthen projects that can continue serving patients, building trust, and offering the hope of the gospel for years to come.

This is one way we connect the beauty of healthcare to the hope of the gospel. 💙

🎉 HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DONNA! 🎂

Today we're celebrating one of the warmest hearts on the Healthbridge Global board! 💛

A nurse by profession and a nurturer by nature, Donna has a remarkable gift for making others feel seen, welcomed, and loved. Compassionate, kind, and deeply rooted in her faith, she notices the little things that others might miss. 🩵

She and her husband, Brett, are coming up on 43 years of marriage! A devoted wife, mom, and grandma, Donna treasures her family above all else. And according to Brett, she is "the heart of our family." She has a way of knowing when someone needs a little extra love, encouragement, or care, often before they even say a word. ❤️

Whether she's hiking in the mountains, relaxing at the beach, traveling, decorating, cooking, singing, or gathering everyone for a game, Donna shares warmth and joy wherever she goes. 💜

We are so grateful for the wisdom, compassion, and generous spirit Donna brings to the Healthbridge Global board. She reminds us that some of the most meaningful ways to lead begin with simply loving others well. 💙

What do we mean when we say we partner on projects with locally designed solutions? 🌍

We mean Healthbridge Global does not enter a community with a premade plan and ask local leaders to make it work.

Every community we serve is different. What works in Nepal may not work in Burundi. What is needed in Romania may look very different from what is needed in Mongolia or Egypt.

That is why local leadership matters so much. We listen to trusted local leaders who can identify real needs and shape solutions that are wise, sustainable, and responsive to the people they serve. 🤝

Healthbridge Global comes alongside to strengthen, resource, and catalyze the work God has already placed in their hands.

This is one way we connect the beauty of healthcare to the hope of the gospel. 💙

🎂 HAPPY 50TH BIRTHDAY TO OUR FEARLESS LEADER, JON! 🎂

To celebrate the big 5-0, I asked several people how they would describe Jon. One thing I heard repeatedly was “great sense of humor.” So naturally, I asked ChatGPT to roast him. 😂

Jon somehow manages to be calm, organized, optimistic, methodical, thoughtful, intentional, visionary, loyal, smiley, and unassumingly competent… which honestly feels a little excessive. Save some strengths for the rest of us, Jon.

And yes, someone also submitted “bald.” We’re just reporting the data. 😏

Jon has a reputation for making just about everything he touches better.
A project? Better.
A relationship? Stronger.
A trip itinerary? Probably optimized down to the minute.
A restaurant recommendation? He already knows the owner.

Because if you know Jon, you know one thing for certain:
Jon. Knows. Everyone.

Put him in an airport, a village halfway around the world, or a random coffee shop, and within 15 minutes he’ll either find someone he knows, discover three mutual friends, or leave with a new best friend. 🌍

He’s our resident super connector, culture enthusiast, surfer, pickleball player, lover of good food, and serious ice cream enthusiast. In fact, his stated ideal ending is apparently to die on a beach eating ice cream, which feels both oddly specific and completely on brand. 🍦🏖️

But behind all the jokes is one of the hardest working, most generous and loyal leaders we know. He leads with conviction and cares deeply.

Jon, we hope your 50th includes crashing waves, really good food, some homemade ice cream, zero spreadsheets, and most of all, time with the family you so clearly adore.

Happy Birthday, Jon! 🎉🌍💙

Every dollar ever raised through philanthropy, or appropriated through taxation, had its humble and precarious beginnings in the inner workings of a business.

That makes every dollar precious. Someone worked for it. Someone took a risk for it. Someone worried over it, fought for it, and created something of value to earn it. And when that dollar is voluntarily handed to an organization trying to make a difference in the world, it becomes something even more special. Something to be cherished and stewarded well.

Last week, our founder Jonathan Hallsted had the privilege of speaking at the Annual Summit of Tilladelse, a first-in-class creative strategy and marketing agency focused on improving the senior living industry.

Tilladelse is a gospel patron of Healthbridge Global. Together, the company and the owners hold the distinction of being our single largest financial partner. Beyond their extraordinary generosity, their team donates countless hours of pro bono creative work to Healthbridge Global and the healthcare projects we support around the world.

At their Annual Summit in Tacoma, Tilladelse pulled back the curtain for their entire team, sharing not only our mission and work, but also the significant role their company plays in it.

It was an honor to tell their team about the impact they are making around the world simply by showing up every day and giving their best. Their creativity, excellence, hard work, and the success they help create make generosity possible. And that generosity is making a tangible difference in places many of them may never see.

There is something deeply meaningful about being trusted by a business and by business leaders who choose to invest what they have built into work that matters.

What do we mean when we say we partner on projects that intentionally and strategically infuse the gospel into everything they do? ✨

For Healthbridge Global, the gospel is not an add-on to healthcare. It shapes the heart of the work: why our partners serve, how they care for patients, how they build trust, and how they walk alongside the communities they serve. 🙏

We believe that when healthcare is offered in the name and character of Christ, it can build bridges for the gospel into closed nations, closed cultures, and closed hearts.

Because our projects are locally led, our partners understand how to share the hope of Jesus with wisdom, sensitivity, and integrity within their own communities.

Healthcare can meet an immediate need. The gospel offers lasting hope. 💙

What could happen if a generation of young people decided to live with radical generosity? 🌍

That’s the heart behind 100 Bridges, our initiative created to awaken the untapped power of young people in the nonprofit world and invite them into meaningful Kingdom impact.

When 100 young people each give just $100 a year, only $8.33 per month, their generosity becomes $10,000 of real impact through a Healthbridge Global project they choose.

A Healthbridge Global team arrived last night in Nepal. We’re here to visit one of our projects, Ark of Hope Medical Clinic in Pokhara. Pokhara and the clinic itself are unaffected by the glacier collapse and the resulting floods you’ve seen on the news. The flooding is mostly isolated to a large river valley about 60 miles east. Where it flowed, it caused massive devastation. Please continue to pray for those affected and for the Nepali people as they care for each other in this tragedy. Today, we will learn more about what our partners are doing in the rural regions they work and whether there is a role for Healthbridge to play.
