On this Memorial Day Weekend we Honor our fallen brothers and sisters. You may see Buddy Poppies being worn by veterans during this time and there is a specific reason for that. This is the poem of Flanders Field by a Canadian Officer who witnessed the casualties during WWI. We now wear the Poppies to remember all who have come before us, with us to the battlefield, those who came after we left the battlefield, and paid the ultimate sacrifice. Take care and stay safe this weekend!

Memorial Day Observation from our Post:

A free wreath-laying ceremony will be at 10 a.m. at the Auburn Veterans Memorial Monument at Ross Street and Glenn Avenue, featuring a rifle detail by VFW Post 5404. Parking is available at the Douglas J. Watson Municipal Complex, Felton Little Park and the East Glenn Avenue Municipal Parking Lot. Road closures will be in place around the ceremony area.

We will also be placing flags on Veterans grave markers in Cemeteries around Auburn. Details and locations on these cemeteries will be announced shortly. We will have volunteers from multiple different groups including VFW Auxiliary Post 5404, Cub Scout Pack 29, and others who graciously offered to help. Thank you to all who will be participating in remembering our fallen brothers and sisters.

We want to encourage everyone to be safe and have a wonderful weekend coming up as we prepare for this weekend of remembrance. Thank you to all of the veterans out there who have served and are still serving!
