We just heard that a community cat was shot by someone near Mattie Street.

As if those poor animals don't have it bad enough! They didn't ask to be homeless. They're just trying to stay fed, keep away from loose dogs, find a warm hidey hole, and stave off illness for a few years.

There's no chipper takeaway here.
Just grief and fury.

ONE THOUSANDth cat fixed!
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
As we note this milestone, let's commit to making 2027 the year with no kittens born outside in Auburn!
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
How can you help?
- We always need volunteers and donations and vets :)
- The same goes for our friends working on the same great cause: Greater Cayuga SPCA , Operation Healthy Pets , and the list goes on 💕
- Tell us about your community cats and get on our list. We do have a long list (we *so* appreciate everyone's patience) but we are always chugging away at it. We can often get to tomcats faster than girl cats, and if your porch cats are on a reliable schedule, that makes it even easier to get them in.
- If you have pet cats, please-oh-please get them fixed. There are some low-cost options (see above).
- If you can't get them fixed soon, then PLEASE OH EXTRA PLEASE, in the wise words of that guy from the Offspring, 📣 you gotta keep 'em separated!

Just one kitty per trap, please, ladies!

We find this happens with kittens pretty often. They'll enter with Mom but they don't necessarily set off the trip plate by themselves. Every cat has to be delivered to a clinic in its own trap, so we use a special dividing fork, a second double-sided trap, a small enclosed room, and a lot of patience to gently move one cat over.
