As Maine students head back to school, we’re reminded that access to nutritious food is an important part of helping every child learn, grow, and thrive.
For many Maine kids, school meals provide an essential source of nourishment. When school is out, whether for weekends, after-school hours, vacation weeks, or summer break, some children and families can face greater challenges accessing enough healthy food.
That’s why connecting families with local food resources matters all year long. Across Maine, nearly 550 hunger-relief organizations are working to make sure help is available in communities throughout the state.
If you or someone you know needs food assistance, or if you’d like to donate food or volunteer at a local pantry, visit our Food Map.
