Reggie Aceto (Club President) and John Tomandl (Club Secretary) are seen in the background taking stock of items to keep and those that can be disposed of, while Conner Mooneyhan (L) and Jim Forsythe (R) talk across the main yard of our HO scale layout. It turns out they both like European trains, and watch the same YouTube channels about them. A small world indeed, brought closer through model railroading!

A quick clip of FGLK AY1 tying down three empty covered hoppers in Auburn Yard Track 1. It had just pulled them from the Caro Vail Fertilizer Plant on the City’s west end. They were secured on the railroad east of the track. The Engineer, using a remote control pack to operate the locomotive, sets the hand brake, a quick reverse shove to take the pressure off the couplers, applying three step protection, lifting the pin to uncouple, and then manually resetting both couplers. The Engineer would then continue through the yard and move back railroad west on the mainline to the other end of the yard. Enjoy the sights and sounds!M.A.Fritz Video.

Cayuga Chasm beginning to take shape. New Hope Lake drains most of the northern edge of the Cayuga Valley feeding the high falls and continuing on across the entire layout; finally draining to Lake Ontario.

High Falls trestle should be installed in the coming weeks allowing trains to traverse from the main clarification yard to the AuSteel and Lake Freighter loading pier. There main “Y” will switch trains from the branch line to the main line leading to Frienda Mines.

Look who is back in town! Connor, part time CVMRRC member, and full time model railroader, is visiting family for a few weeks, and as always, he can be found at the Club on Wednesday nights. Connor’s model railroading interests are broad, and here we see him working the main yard with his London, Midland & Scottish (LMS) Compound 41143 locomotive during last week’s meeting.

A what if picture…….

The Auburn Steel Company purchased a Lehigh Valley GP38 when the railroad was folded to CONRAIL in 1976. The plant needed the horsepower produced by the GP38 to pull the loaded gondolas out of the quarry, where the mill is located, to the rail yard.
