The second part of the final outing was on the Tallapoosa river. The young anglers had a blast on this scenic and remote stretch of river! We put all the lessons they've learned over the previous months to use on their own personal guided trip, with an emphasis on having fun!

Thank you to for providing yet another meal for these young anglers and their mentors! The food was delicious.

This year, all the participants couldn't make it on the same day so we split the final outing into two parts. The first of these two trips was on the Coosa river. We try to provide the best experience possible for these young anglers, making the whole day about them. We had a ton of fun, fish were caught, and the lunch time swim felt so good!

We had a make up day for two of the young anglers who were feeling under the weather for one of our previous outings this year. We covered knot tying, conservation, and then did some fishing in the creek to cap it off! These two brothers are an awesome team. They caught Alabama bass, Tallapoosa bass, redbreast sunfish, and bluegill. Way to go guys!

TMP2025 Day 2 in Auburn! Mentors taught these young fly anglers fish handling, fly fishing knots, invasive species and advanced casting. Of course, more fishing!

TMP2025 Day 1! WE ARE BACK! Mentors taught these young fly anglers fly fishing 101, safety, attributes of a fly angler and casting. Oh, a few fish were caught too!!!

We had an amazing night ! We had a goal to support two kids in foster care and our community came though and went way above! We would like to thank and for all the work they did in making this happen! Not only did we have folks from our local community show up but folks from the Tallapoosa Watershed Coalition, , , and . Because of all of you we were able to raise more than enough to have another year with Auburn’s Mayfly Project. If you would like to become a mentor, donate or find other ways you can help, please DM us!

On this Giving Tuesday, please help us change the lives of children in foster care through The Mayfly Project!

The Mayfly Project is a 501(c)(3) national organization that uses fly fishing as a catalyst to mentor and support children in foster care. Our mission is to help children in foster care have fun, build confidence, and develop a meaningful connection with the outdoors.

The Mayfly Project has been in Auburn for the last three years and has inspired two other projects start in our State. We can attest to how impactful time outdoors and fly fishing with mentors can be on the children we work with! Our goal is to fundraise to sponsor at least one child to participate in our 2025 project season!

Tonight The Mayfly Project - Auburn received a wonderful gift from St Dunson’s “St. Dun's Buns”. One of the outreach initiatives of their women’s group at St. Dunstan’s, the Mary & Martha Guild, is a baking for donations group called the “St. Dun’s Buns”. They distribute the proceeds from this effort to community non-profits. Over the past few years they have been able to donate thousands of dollars to 76 different nonprofit organizations. (Each month the baked goods may be viewed on the St. Dun’s Buns page with a link to the Sign up Genius to place orders).
Go visit their page and give them a follow. This is a great example of the Auburn community supporting each other. And Thank you Emily for nominating us!
