Effective immediately, Oakland Mediation Center will temporarily transition to virtual only, or offsite services while Auburn Hills remains in a state of emergency for a major water main break. This temporary transition may last a couple of days or as long as 14 days, per city and county officials. Due to the water main break, water pressure levels are insufficient to reliably support emergency fire suppression systems and sanitary operations. Community members seeking services may contact us on our website at www.mediation-omc.org or by phone at 248-338-4280 and at the following extensions: Domestic mediation (divorce, parenting time, probate, behavioral health and other specialty cases) ext. 223, general referrals and circuit court civil at ext. 212, district court mediation at ext. 224, special education mediation at ext. 222, legal services at ext. 221, or training/education services at ext. 210. Administration at ext. 226. Thank you for your patience!

Access to justice shouldn’t depend on your income. Too many people face legal challenges—housing disputes, family matters, small business issues—without the support they need because traditional legal services can be out of reach.

That’s where affordable legal services and/or mediation come in.

Lower-cost legal options, sliding-scale fees, and community-based support help bridge the gap so more people can understand their rights and protect their interests. Legal help shouldn’t feel out of reach. Everyone deserves access to clear, reliable advice—without worrying about overwhelming costs. Affordable legal services are making it easier than ever to get support with things like contracts, family matters, small business needs, and more. Whether it’s a quick consultation or ongoing guidance, there are options designed to fit real budgets and real lives.

Mediation offers a practical alternative—helping people resolve conflicts faster, with less stress, and often at a fraction of the cost of going to court.

When we make legal help more accessible, and more comfortable, we strengthen our communities. Fair outcomes shouldn’t be a privilege—they should be the standard.

Oakland Mediation Center proudly partnered with Clawson schools recently to train and implement a Peer Mediation Program in their district. Peer mediation programs empower students and team members to resolve disputes through communication, empathy, and collaboration. Instead of escalating conflicts, participants learn to listen actively, understand different perspectives, and work toward solutions that benefit everyone involved.

The result? Stronger relationships, improved emotional intelligence, and a more supportive environment where every voice matters.

Investing in peer mediation isn’t just about solving problems—it’s about building a culture of respect and leadership for the future.

Conflict happens—but it doesn’t have to end in damage.

Every day, nonprofit mediation centers help people navigate disagreements with dignity, understanding, and respect. Whether it’s families, neighbors, or communities, trained mediators create space for real conversations and lasting solutions.

But this work depends on support.

When you donate, you’re not just funding a service—you’re investing in stronger relationships, healthier communities, and peaceful outcomes where they matter most.

✨ Help turn conflict into connection.

✨ Support access to fair, compassionate mediation.

✨ Be part of something that truly makes a difference.

Here at the Oakland Mediation Center, we wanted to take a moment during Volunteer Appreciation Week to shout out our amazing volunteer mediators! We are very fortunate to have 100+ mediators on our roster, some joining just this year, and some who’ve supported the Center for over 25 years! Whether you have been a career mediator, attorneys and judges who’ve added mediation to your repertoire, someone who made a career change to pursue mediation, or if mediation is a part-time passion, we appreciate you and your continued support towards our mission to educate, empower, and build relationships that lead to peaceful resolutions!

When disputes arise, heading straight to trial isn’t your only option. Mediation in district court offers a faster, more cost-effective, and less stressful path to resolution.

✨ Why choose mediation?

---Saves time: Resolve disputes in weeks, not months (or years).
Reduces costs: Avoid expensive legal fees and prolonged court proceedings.
Confidential process: Keep sensitive matters private instead of on the public record.
More control: Both parties have a voice in crafting the outcome—no surprises from a judge’s ruling.
-Preserves relationships: A collaborative approach can help maintain personal or business connections.

Mediation isn’t about “winning” or “losing”—it’s about finding a solution that works for everyone involved. If you’re facing a dispute in district court, consider mediation as a smarter, more efficient way forward.

We are deeply saddened to share the passing of one of our most dedicated supporters, Dave Rosenthal.

Dave was not only a passionate volunteer, but also a valued former board member and a generous donor whose impact on our organization cannot be overstated. His commitment, kindness, and unwavering support helped shape who we are today and strengthened our ability to serve our community.

Beyond his many contributions to OMC for over 32 years, Dave will be remembered for his compassion, leadership, and the genuine care he showed to everyone he worked with. Dave leaves behind a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire us.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing Dave.

We are incredibly grateful for everything Dave gave to our mission. He will be deeply missed by those of us fortunate to have known him.

Dave's family invites those that are so moved to please consider making a donation to Oakland Mediation Center in his memory. Donations may be sent to Oakland Mediation Center, 3254 University Drive, Suite 190, Auburn Hills, MI 48326 or on our website at www.mediation-omc.org
