The Arenac County Walleye Club is a non-profit organization formed by sport fishermen to protect and enhance the fisheries resources in Arenac County and the surrounding area with the walleyes of Saginaw Bay and tributaries being the primary focus. The club is a non-profit, incorporated as a 501C and has over 200 life members as of 2017. This organization has been extremely successful in the resto

ration efforts of Saginaw Bay’s walleye population owning and operating one of the largest walleye rearing ponds in Michigan. Prior to 2005, the club raised walleyes for stocking directly into Saginaw Bay. This massive stocking effort contributed enormously to the current recovered walleye population that thrives there and is now considered a world class, 100% naturally reproducing, walleye fishery. Since 2005, the Arenac County Walleye Club has been raising walleye fingerlings to support DNR stocking programs throughout the state of Michigan contributing millions of walleyes to dozens of lakes and rivers. The club also hosts some very well attended dinners and events and is certainly a driving force in maintaining and conserving the county’s fisheries for generations to come.

We harvested 56,000 walleye fingerlings from the club'spond yesterday, which were all stocked in Caribou Lake in the UP. A bunch also escaped into Saginaw Bay when a block wall enclosing the fish trap collapsed during the capture process.
