Angel Hall had the pleasure of going flower shopping with some of the Atwater Garden Club gals to Babe’s Blossoms in May to purchase flowers for our seniors flower pots. What a fun day to see so many beautiful flowers. A very special thanks to Babe’s Blossoms for donating a gift card to purchase some of the flowers & also to the garden club gals Lorna Thorp, Marylyn Larson, Marilyn Sampson, Sheila Pearson & Dawn Nelson for planting the flowers in all of the pots & also for delivering to our seniors to enjoy this summer!

What an amazing night we had on Thursday, April 23rd at the Community Center. The Fortune Cookies play was so good & brought forth so many discussions about Dementia & the families who are dealing with it. A huge Thank You to the actors who performed! They were wonderful & Betsy Meyer who led the discussion after the play brought so much information to the group. For those who missed it we will be having the 2nd play to follow “Steering into the Skid” in October.

We had a fantastic time in Atwater! Thank you, Atwater Area Help for Seniors, for hosting an awesome event about brain health, dementia, caregiving, and living with purpose! We'll see you again in the Fall!

Atwater Area Help for Seniors is partnering with Advocates for Health to present CPR & AED training. This will be held on Tuesday, April 28th from 10-11:30am at the Atwater Community Center. If you would like to take this class please call our office to sign up at 320-974-8737.

Good morning, everyone. We are getting set for our April 21st TRIAD meeting and thought we would get the agenda out to everyone. We will once again be meeting at the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Operations Center or EOC. The address is 2201 23rd St. NE, Willmar, MN. For those that have not been here before, it would be the far-right entrance to our building as you are pulling into our parking lot (west side).

Thank you to our volunteers Kim Collins, Duane Mensing & Colleen Aasen for their very organized effort to fill our Easter bags that we sent out to seniors. Thank you to Joan Gatzmeyer for the cookies, Karen Skillings for the Easter ornament, Casey’s for the beverages that were added to the bags along with what our program provided for the seniors of our community!!

We are excited to introduce a new display case showcasing various items available for our seniors. You can find multiple resources that can be used or borrowed, including Medication boxes,
Automatic medication dispensing machines,
Adaptive eating tools,
Walker or cane components,
Incontinence products,
Blood pressure monitors,
Other essential equipment

An AED device has been installed outside our building, made possible by the Life Safety grant from DHS. To help guide individuals to the device, directional signs will be placed at the end of the block.

Instructions for using the device are conveniently displayed on the window next to the AED stand. Additionally, we will be hosting a training session in the spring for anyone interested in learning more about the device and its emergency application.

We would like to express our gratitude to Ryan Buer Electric for their electrical work and to the AED company for their installation efforts.
