As we remember the tragic events of 9/11, allow us also to bring to mind God’s faithfulness to us as he brought healing to all who suffered pain and affliction. Today let us pray the Collect For Our Nation.

Almighty God, who hast given us this good land for our heritage: We humbly beseech thee that we may always prove ourselves a people mindful of thy favor and glad to do thy will. Bless our land with honorable industry, sound learning, and pure conduct. Save us from violence, discord, and confusion;
from pride and arrogance, and from every evil way. Defend our liberties, and fashion into one united people the multitudes brought hither out of many kindreds and tongues. Endue with the spirit of wisdom those to whom, in thy Name, we entrust the authority of government, that there may be justice and peace at home, and that, through obedience to thy law, we may show forth thy praise among the nations of the earth. In the time of
prosperity, fill our hearts with thankfulness, and in the day of trouble, suffer not our trust in thee to fail; all of which we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

This Week In Anglicanism features Bernard Mizeki. Bernard Mizeku was an African Christian missionary and martyr who worked as a catechist in Mashonaland (now Zimbabwe) in the late 19th century, known for his dedication to evangelism among the Shona people and his martyrdom during the Mashona rebellion in 1896, which led to his veneration as a saint in the Anglican Communion.

Join us in prayer for the people of the Philippines.

A powerful magnitude 7.8 earthquake has struck off the southern Philippine island of Mindanao, causing serious damage in General Santos, Sarangani and surrounding areas.

Reports say buildings have collapsed, people have been killed and injured, and many communities are facing fear, disruption and uncertainty as aftershocks continue. Tsunami warnings were issued across parts of the region and later lifted, while emergency teams continue to assess the damage and support those affected.

🙏We pray for the people of the Philippines, especially all those affected in Mindanao.

🙏 We hold before God those who have died, those who are injured, those who are missing and all who are grieving.

🙏 We pray for people whose homes, schools, churches, businesses and communities have been damaged, and for all who remain anxious as aftershocks continue.

🙏 We give thanks for emergency responders, medical teams, local authorities, churches and community organisations offering help, shelter and care.

🙏 We pray for The Episcopal Church in the Philippines and their ministry to communities at this difficult time.

God of mercy,
draw near to all who are afraid, grieving or in need.
Strengthen those who are responding with courage and compassion.
Protect those in danger,
comfort those who mourn
and guide all who work to bring relief, healing and hope.

Augustine of Canterbury, a Benedictine monk sent by Pope Gregory I in 597, became the first Archbishop of Canterbury and is known as the "Apostle to the English" for his pivotal role in establishing Christianity in southern England through his missionary work, conversion of King Æthelberht of Kent, and founding of the English Church.
