On Endangered Species Day, we are reminded of the importance of celebrating, learning about, and taking action to protect some of Earth’s most vulnerable animals. One of the most recognized of these at Capron Park Zoo are Red Pandas, which are officially classified as an endangered species by the IUCN Red List, a program that contains the world’s most comprehensive information source on the global extinction risk status of species. Red panda populations have seen a sharp decline, and it is estimated that as few as 2,500 to 10,000 remain. Habitat loss, population fragmentation, and illegal poaching are all contributing to this decrease. Here we participate in the Species Survival Program (SSP) for Red Pandas, which maintains a healthy & genetically diverse population in professional care. Every visit to Capron Park Zoo helps us work towards conservation of this and many other species. We recently received one of the most heartfelt donations from a young supporter who chose to give money they had carefully saved in a coffee can to help support the zoo. Along with the donation came a thoughtful note that reminded us of something truly special - generosity comes in many forms, and every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference.

To this amazing child: thank you for thinking of us, believing in our mission, and wanting to help make an impact. Your kindness means more than words can express, and your gift is helping support the animals, our guests, and the future of the zoo.

Moments like this remind us just how important community is. Thank you to everyone who continues to support the zoo in ways both big and small. Every act of kindness helps keep our mission moving forward.

Happy Mother’s Day 🌸

We just released our new limited-edition Mother’s Day stickers at Capron Park Zoo. It makes us so happy to see all of our creative designs displayed together, and we hope everyone enjoys them too. 💌

Also, today we donated a food dehydrator and small wooden display shelves to Capron Park Zoo. We’re grateful to be able to give back in a small way and support the zoo community.

We are so very grateful to be the recipient of this donation from the New England Herpetological Society! 🦎 NEHS is a nonprofit dedicated to conserving reptiles and amphibians, advancing herpetological education, and fostering a welcoming community for both lifelong enthusiasts and those newly curious about the natural world. Founded in 1972, NEHS has grown over 50 years into a regional organization, supporting herpetology through field events, educational programs, research and conservation grants, resources, and advocacy for responsible practices that protect native species and their habitats.

Happy Cinco de "Maye" O! We're of course referring to our rescued Bobcat kitten Marley Maye! She has settled into her outdoor exhibit very well and is even starting to participate in a formal training program. Special thanks to the Attleboro Garden Club for sprucing up her exhibit at Katie's Garden. We hope you'll come see her new home at Capron Park Zoo very soon! (Bonus tongue out Tuesday! Look at that little blep!)

Do you know that the gift shop at Capron Park Zoo is one of the most beautiful in Attleboro? It’s recently been refreshed too.

The bright, welcoming space features popular animal plush toys, unique merch, storybooks, educational toys, and even collaborations like local farm honey. Our We Love Capron Park Zoo postcards and pins are now available there as well.
