COMMUNITY HEALTH SYSTEMS FOUNDATION AWARDS $887,500 TO ATTLEBORO-TAUNTON AREA NONPROFITS AS NEEDS GROW AND OTHER FUNDING SOURCES BECOME UNSTABLE
The Community Health Systems Foundation (CHSF) announced today that it has awarded $887,500 in grants to 29 Attleboro-Taunton area nonprofit organizations that are advancing health equity and wellness.
This year’s awards come at a time of rising concern among nonprofit organizations in this region and across the country about the impact of inflation and potential reductions in federal support, and as health-related needs are growing. The CHSF received more than 40 applications this year, indicating a rise in need and concern about funding.
“This year’s grant applications made two things clear to us,” said CHSF Chair Amanda Blount. “First, our region has a valuable mix of non-profit organizations and volunteers devoted to meeting the basic needs of people – nutrition, shelter, education -- with resources that people need to survive and become self-sufficient. The applications also made clear that these needs are growing across our communities as the costs of living rise and both public and private funding are threatened. We are hopeful that this year’s CHSF grants offer hope to those being served, and a message to the greater community that these organizations are worthy of support at this perilous time.”
The 2026 grantees are:
• Attleboro Enterprises Inc. -- Support for new location in Plainville.
• American Credit Counseling -- 1-on-1 credit counselling and financial literacy education.
• Associates for Human Services (Attleboro/Taunton) -- Therapeutic programming for low-income elders and adults with disabilities.
• Attleboro Interfaith Collaborative -- Support staffing, program coordination, food administration.
• Attleboro Museum -- Art programs for individuals with disabilities.
• Attleboro/Norton YMCA -- Support for chronic disease programs, low-income housing occupants.
• Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket -- Financial assistance for children to attend Camp Ramsbottom.
• Boys and Girls Club of Metro South (Taunton) -- Staff and supplies to provide social emotional support services to youth.
• Community Access to Rides (Attleboro) -- Rides for seniors, veterans, students, and vulnerable individuals to shelters, appointments, food pantries, education.
• Father Bill's & MainSpring (Taunton) -- Tenancy program support and case management to keep families in their homes.
• Franklin Food Pantry (Franklin) -- Food purchase and distribution.
• Hebron Food Pantry (Attleboro) -- Food and hygiene products for area individuals.
• Hockomock Area YMCA (Attleboro) -- Purchase and distribution of food.
• Hope Health Hospice (Attleboro) -- Support for patients and caregivers.
• JRI – Support for individuals struggling with mental health and substance abuse at Southeast Behavioral Health Center.
• Kennedy -Donovan Center (Attleboro) -- Expansion of autism safety training
• Manet Community Health Center (Attleboro/Taunton) – Expansion of behavioral Health navigation staff.
• Our Daily Bread (Mansfield) -- Operating support for food access program for Mansfield residents.
• MARE Adoption Resources -- Secure permanent housing and resources for foster home youth.
• Murray Church Food Pantry (Attleboro) – Purchase of food and supplies.
• Old Colony YMCA (Taunton) -- Teen engagement programming, including food access.
• Our Daily Bread (Taunton) – Winter shelter, showers, transportation, laundry services.
• Pave your Path -- General operating support to hire staff leadership
• Saint Theresa's Food Pantry (Attleboro) -- Food and hygiene products.
• St. Vincent DePaul Re-entry -- Housing and employment services.
• Sturdy Health (Attleboro) - Expansion of maternal health services.
• Taunton Community Table (Taunton) -- Meals, operational cost.
• The Literacy Center (Attleboro) – Education programs that help disadvantaged adults achieve self-sufficiency.
• West Side Benevolent Circle (Mansfield) -- Food and back packs for youth.
Formed in 2021, the Community Health Systems Foundation provides grants to nonprofit organizations that enhance the community’s capacity to achieve optimal health, wellness, and quality of life. The CHSF supports organizations serving the needs of individuals and families in the following communities: Attleboro, Dighton, Easton, Franklin, Foxboro, Mansfield, Norton, North Attleboro, Plainville, Rehoboth, Seekonk, Taunton, and Wrentham.
