NATIONAL BLOOD SHORTAGE CONTINUES
ATTICA COMMUNITY RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE

Supporters, Blood Donors, and All Other Volunteers of the Attica Community Red Cross Blood Drives,
The Attica Lions Club & the Attica Independent Fair Board, are continuing to co-sponsor an Attica Community American Red Cross’s Blood Drive. Unfortunately, the February 18th Attica Community Blood Drive had to be cancelled due to Red Cross staffing shortages. Thanks to all of you who have supported The Northwest chapter of the American Red Cross in it’s efforts to address the "National Blood Shortage" for "WHOLE BLOOD" resupply shortages for emergency & surgical patients as well as “POWER REDS” for cancer patients. The current national situation continues to be the greatest demand for blood supplies in over a decade continues with numerous National Emergencies caused by the weather (HURRICANES/TORNADOS in the Midwest & Southern USA, & WILDFIRES in California) in addition to a dramatic reduction in blood donors and Red Cross staffing over the past 20 + years. Typically, prior to COVID, people would have the opportunity to donate at or near their workplace during their workday or close to their home or churches. In addition, our general population of donors and American Red Cross staffing continue to decrease due to age and ever-increasing medical issues.
The next Attica Community Blood Drive has been scheduled for Wednesday, June 17, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. til 6:00 p.m. at the Attica Independent Fairground Entertainment building. Please see below for more information for this blood drive. The Attica Lions Club and the Attica Independent Fair Board members have committed to again co-sponsor and support this upcoming effort to address the desperate “NATIONAL CRITICAL NEED” for blood donations by working closely with the Northwest Ohio Chapter of the American Red Cross and others to conduct this blood drive. Blood donations & “Power Reds” go to support primarily the essential lifesaving needs for blood in Northwest Ohio. We would appreciate everyone's usual excellent cooperation to spread the word under some very difficult circumstances. If there are any questions, please feel free to contact me and I will attempt to come up with some answers. Currently, the most efficient and effective way to schedule a donation is thru the Red Cross’s website where donors can schedule their own appointment if the time is available by visiting the Red Cross website redcrossblood.org and enter 44807 zip code or the sponsor code: LIONSATTICA or by calling the Red Cross at 1-800-RED-CROS.
Other options on the website redcrossblood.org is an on-line feature called ”RAPID PASS” on the day of your blood donation. This allows the donor to fill out the donor questions in advance of their appointment that day so all the blood donor must do would be the finger stick. There is also a download Blood Donor App on to your smart phone.
Blood donations are very necessary and are in a critical emergency demand!!!
