From the Heart of a Seasoned Firefighter: A Message to Current and Future Heroes

To my fellow firefighters, both current and future, let’s take a moment to reflect on the pride we take in our work. Our efforts genuinely impact the communities we serve, and the feeling of shared success is something that those outside our ranks may never fully understand. Conversely, the defeats we face, those times when we just can’t seem to get it right, are moments of intense reflection. It can feel like we’re suffocating under the weight of our mistakes.

We train continuously throughout our careers, gaining new knowledge while also sharpening our skills on the basics. Yet, there will come a time when you make an error, or go through a rough patch where it seems nothing goes right. You might feel like you would suffocate if your breathing depended on your conscious help.

The fire service has a long, rich history, filled with those who have come before us and those who will continue the job long after we hang up our boots. We share the highs and lows of this profession; mistakes don’t define us but offer opportunities for self-evaluation from a different perspective.

Take a look at the photos in this post. They show a mistake made back when "men were men and didn’t make mistakes like that." But guess what? They did too. I remember a time when my own star didn’t shine so bright, and I had to make that dreaded call: “Sorry Chief, I was stupid.” We all go through it, and we will all get through it together.

So, keep striving for excellence, and keep your chin up when you miss the mark. Tomorrow will be better than today if you allow it. Thank you for the job you do, and remember, building each other up feels far better than tearing each other down. Stay safe, and keep pushing forward!

20 Arrow Ln. In Blue Lakes. Prayer Warrior's in this community this baby needs all we can do..Sunday, January 26th at 2:00PM central time. You are invited to join us as we gather in front yard of our home for a time of prayer with Mattie Blake. We will lift her up to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and thank him for his protection over Mattie and pray for direction as we move forward. Mattie Blake was set to start chemo Monday, January 27th, Thankfully a specific doctor looking further and a lab test result has stopped this from happening.
Mattie already has a central line and was set for admission. God stepped in and stopped this. He has protected our baby girl.
The thoughts of what next week could have looked like for our family are unimaginable. We are just so thankful our God protected her. Each of you are welcome to come. If you can't be there, please join us wherever you may be. I will be streaming a Facebook Live starting just before 2pm central time. If you would like more information or need our address please send me a private message.
Thank you all 🫶🏼

Lord, I know that you can do anything and that your plans are unstoppable.
