Walk, Bike, Run Atlas Township

Walk, Bike, Run Atlas Township Efforts to add trails for walking, hiking, biking, and running throughout Atlas Township, increasing the walkability of our community one path at a time.

Residents of communities across Michigan and the country are desiring the number of hike (walk) and bike paths increased in their communities if they don't already have them. Residents of Atlas Township in Michigan feel the same way. This page was developed to keep the residents of Atlas Township updated on the effort to increase the number of hike (walk) and bike paths within the township, and at

the same time encourage the residents to voice their support to increase the number of paths in the township. Updates will be made weekly or more often as this effort progresses.

I drove by the sidewalk being installed on the north side of Perry Road this morning. For the most part it is totally installed except for the approaches at the cross streets. The workers are leveling soil prepping, for grass seed today as well. I hope to post a photo soon of the progress.

The pouring of concrete for the sidewalk on the north side of Perry Road is expected to start west of Vassar. Weather is cooperating.

Our meetings are held every other month starting in January on the first Tuesday each month of January, March, May, July, September, and November. Occasionally we have to change the meetings to another date. This month was one of those occasions.

Our meetings are open to the public and held in the Atlas Township Hall on Gale Road. Our meeting will be held on Tuesday July 12, 2026 starting at 6 pm.

Just a reminder, the new Perry Road extension is not open for traffic as it is not complete. The asphalt top coat still has to be installed and if the weather cooperates next week, the top coat is expected to be laid at that time.

The bridge over Thread Creek will not be installed until sometime in October, which means there still is no way to travel all the way on Perry Road from/to Grand Blanc or Atlas Township. We have asked that the bridge be completed sooner but there’s been no change at this time.

There will also be landscaping to be done to clean up the areas of construction.
