Let Us Eat, Please

Let Us Eat, Please 'Let Us Eat, Please,’ a nonprofit org that helps fill the gap left when school ends in June & some kids are without good meals each day in summer.

‘Let Us Eat, Please,’ a nonprofit organization that provides meals for needy families, is seeking both volunteers and donations for its summer program. The program is designed to fill the gap left when school ends in June, leaving students who get free or reduced-rate breakfast and lunch without those meals. Volunteers deliver boxes of food every two weeks during the summer to needy families. Last

summer, ‘Let Us Eat, Please’ served more than 25,000 meals to families in Atlantic County. The Community FoodBank of New Jersey/Southern Branch sells the prepackaged boxes of food for $7 each. Donations are welcome

As a result of the 11th Annual Captain’s Table held on February 26 to kick off Taste Atlantic City, our partnership with Let Us Eat, Please and The Community FoodBank of New Jersey helped raise $85,000 in support of the organization’s summer feeding programs for South Jersey families.

We also donated an abundance of lunchboxes to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey to further support these efforts.

The funds raised through the Captain’s Table will help ensure that children throughout South Jersey have access to nutritious meals all summer long.

No child should go hungry — and thanks to our community, many families are receiving the groceries they need this summer. 🍎

At a recent food distribution at William Davies Middle School in the Hamilton Township School District, we were proud to partner with the Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ), the Cooper Levenson law firm, school staff, and an incredible team of student volunteers. Families picked up groceries through CFBNJ’s Summer Food Service Program, with the help of hardworking Davies Middle School students who earned community service hours while organizing boxes and loading food into cars.

Special thanks to those who gave their time and energy: Ken Calemmo, COO of Cooper Levenson and leader of Let Us Eat Please; school law attorneys Amy Houck-Elco and Kasi Marie Gifford of Cooper Levenson; Dr. Jeffery Zito, Hamilton Township Superintendent of Schools; Laurie Derringer, Davies teacher and food distribution coordinator; and Torrina Bennett-Michael and Ciara Morales of CFBNJ.

Together, we’re carrying forward the mission of Let Us Eat Please — to continue the fight started by our founder, the late Jim Cooper, to ensure families in need have access to healthy groceries. 💙
