And that’s exactly what she built with the Make the Best of It Bash.
On Friday, June 26, 2026, we’ll gather for a night filled with laughter, music, a great silent auction, and the kind of joy Tara brought into every room she entered.

But it’s more than just a fun night out.

Together, we’ll raise critical funds for melanoma research — investing in breakthroughs and working to change the odds for patients everywhere. 100% of all money raisers going directly to melanoma research .

It is a great party for an even greater purpose.

11 years ago (less than 2 weeks before our 2nd ) this picture was taken by someone who didn’t know Tara’s story and only was trying to capture the storm (the billboard is on a rotation so just happened to capture ours). A friend saw it and sent it to us and we were even more shocked when we saw the caption was “this storm is crazy tonight, who wants to go dancing in the rain?” For those that don’t know, Tara’s favorite quote was about dancing in the rain!! That year was our first event without Tara and less than 2 weeks before the event this was such an amazing sign from her to know she was watching and proud of us for ‘making the best of it’. Each year our family is still so nervous for the event without her but each year continue to be even more in awe and appreciative of the incredible support from our community and everyone who has embraced Tara’s mission and helped us honor her legacy! Looking forward to this Friday for our 12th annual

In 2018, Danielle was diagnosed with advanced melanoma—but today, she’s still here. Her story is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when determination meets innovation. In the years since Tara’s passing, her vision has sparked discoveries that are rewriting the future of melanoma. At the first Bash in 2014, Tara said:
“Since we can’t change what the statistics on melanoma have been, we chose to make the best of it and help change where they are going.”
She couldn’t control the odds she faced—so she set out to change them.

And thanks to the incredible support of our community, she has. We are proud to share that TMMF has funded research that has led to 23 clinical trials and 64 published studies. But the best number? In 2014, only 20% of late-stage melanoma patients lived more than a year. Today, it’s over 50%.

Through our partnership with Penn Medicine’s Tara Miller Melanoma Center and the Melanoma Research Alliance, we’ve joined forces with some of the brightest minds on the planet. From promising early-stage studies to game-changing global collaborations, we’re funding research Tara would be proud of—research that’s saving lives.

In less than 3 weeks, we’ll come together to celebrate how far we’ve come—and raise a glass to the incredible woman who lit this spark and made it her mission to give others the future she was robbed of.

As we kick off planning for this year’s Bash (June 27th at Golden Nugget) and as I get ready to head to the Melanoma Research Alliance Scientific Retreat tomorrow, I cannot help but reflect on the incredible progress that we have made on melanoma since Tara started TMMF in 2014. Over $8.5 million funded for groundbreaking research that has led to what we can now say is life saving progress. It is impossible to quantify the number of people’s lives Tara has saved, changed or made an immeasurable difference in. For now, I really want to share this one story of Danielle. I met Danielle in 2018 when she reached out to thank us (and Tara), part of that message was: “I wanted to reach out and personally thank all of you (as well as Tara, of course) because I know the immunotherapy treatment that I'm so lucky to have as an option is due to all of the work and research funding that you have put into finding a cure. It's literally saving my life. “

Tara said she wanted to change the odds for the next patient in her shoes and its been incredible to get to know Danielle Palladino and her family as THAT patient. At last year’s event Danielle so bravely stood up and shared her story of the impact of the dollars raised. This video still gives me goosebumps.
