Surfrider ensures clean water, accessible beaches, and healthy coasts & oceans for all of us to enjoy by finding lasting solutions to the threats our coasts face. Check our posts for location announcements!

🌊🏄🏼‍♀️ Shoutout to our Volunteer Coordinator, Kari Bryant .gypsy23!

This weekend she joined surfers from Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina for Eastern Surfing Association Regionals at Jeanette‘s Pier in the OBX!

Kari represented the ladies division in two heats: ladies long board and ladies short board. Great job, Kari👏🏻🏆

🌟🌍Happy Earth Day 🌎🌟

This month, our incredible volunteers showed up again and again—removing nearly 100 lbs of trash, protecting our coastline, and proving that collective action creates real impact. We’re so grateful for every single one of you who joined us for an Earth Month cleanup!

But here’s the thing—our ocean needs us every day, not just today. Let’s treat every day like Earth Day.

This Earth Day, we’re honoring Mother Earth the best way we know how — by rolling up our sleeves and protecting the beaches and waters that sustain us. Come learn more about both of our organizations and connect with an ocean-loving community committed to keeping our coast clean and thriving.

Skip the balloons—save the sea 🎈🌊

In just the past month, we’ve found dozens of balloons on our local beaches. What goes up doesn’t just disappear—it often ends up in our ocean, where it can harm marine life through ingestion and entanglement.

With graduation season and outdoor celebrations around the corner, it’s the perfect time to rethink how we celebrate!

Try ocean-friendly alternatives instead:
🌸 Plant something in honor of the moment
🕯️ Gather with candles or a sunset toast
🧹 Celebrate with a beach cleanup or make a donation to a good cause in honor of your loved one
💌 Share memories with notes or letters

Join us this Saturday, April 4 from 8:00–9:30 AM at Western Ocean Regional Access in Emerald Isle for a Pop-Up Beach Yoga session + community cleanup!

Start your morning with an all-levels, donation-based yoga class led by Ann-Marie (). Then stick around to help protect our shoreline with a beach cleanup 💙

Bring a towel or sheet, water, and anything you need to feel comfortable on the sand.
