Join us in wishing a Happy Birthday to our namesake, Judge Ronald J. Freeman. In honor of his birthday, we’d like to announce the Record Restriction Clinic that we will be hosting in his honor on Saturday, October 10th, in partnership with the Gate City Bar Association, the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys, and more organizations. An informational session for the Record Restriction Clinic will be held on Saturday, August 8th. More details to come!

On July 22, 2026, the 11th Circuit will hear oral arguments in a very significant case involving the right to freedom of speech, political dissent, and convictions based solely on conspiracy charges.

This is a great opportunity for lawyers, students, and community members to 
-Learn about the case the evening prior to the hearing, 
-Attend the oral arguments, 
-Meet with the appellants and their attorneys to debrief after the hearing, and 
-Join them in an informal luncheon co-sponsored by GSU’s Black Law Student Association (BLSA), the Georgia Chapter of the National Conference of Black Lawyers (NCBL), and the Davis Bozeman Law Firm.

174 years ago Frederick Douglass asked, “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?” Here we are in 2026, asking a similar question. Our rights that our ancestors fought and died for are being dismantled as we speak. Therefore, for this 250th celebration, we share the same sentiments as Frederick Douglass: “This Fourth of July is yours, not mine, You may rejoice, I must mourn.”
