Please consider donating a few dollars to support students relying on Klemis Kitchen by following the instructions linked below.

Help Klemis Kitchen Buy Dinner Tomorrow for Students in Need

Klemis Kitchen needs your help to support our students! We usually stock leftovers from the dining halls, but there have been some issues getting started up this semester and it’s impacting our ability to keep the kitchen stocked, which means fewer hot meals for our students. This Friday evening, we’d like to buy hot meals for the students who are relying on Klemis Kitchen this semester.

Please help us buy a student dinner on Friday by making an online gift to Klemis Kitchen. We have a web page that has directions on how to make a donation to STAR: https://studentlife.gatech.edu/content/how-donate-star.

There’s one additional direction, not on the web page – under the “Designations” section, there’s a “if other, please specify” box; in that box, type “ Klemis - 1/29 dinner.”

We will purchase as many meals as we can with the donations received by noon on Friday, January 29.

Thanks for your support!

Black Women’s Community Listening Circle

BlueJeans Meeting ID: 805 290 111

Join staff from the Women's Resource Center for a community listening circle centering Black women. WRC staff will be available to offer support, resources, and a dedicated space for student processing and healing.

Melanie and I (Dani) will be facilitating this space and therefore feel it is pertinent to be transparent about the steps we are taking to be accountable and hold sacred the tremendous risk taking and trust Black women have when engaging with White women:

- Acknowledging, centering, and prioritizing the compounding ways Black women experience racialized and gendered violence.
- Tapping into research, cultural knowledge, and applications made by and for Black women in our community and individual care practices.
- Interrogating the ways White feminism has contributed to the traumatization of Black women, the operation of Women’s Resource Centers in Higher Education, and our own knowledge and practice of gender equity.
- Providing resources and support alternatives for Black women who do not want to engage in this space.
- Holding ourselves accountable to a visible and ongoing commitment to racial and gender equity for Black women.
- Engaging in our responsibility to create a Women’s Resource Center where Black women feel valued, seen, and safe, and where they can show up authentically and with their whole selves.

We know that what we have listed above is not exhaustive of the work that needs to be done. We are making a public commitment to you and our community to work harder and more sustainably toward racial justice. We hope that you will join us and also affirm any of the other ways you choose to find care, community, and healing.

Feb 13 | 5:30 PM | Smithgall (Flag) Building, Suite 131
Join us for a free meal and in-depth dialogue as we explore the ways graduate women find, strengthen, and create safe places. What influences our perceptions and understandings of safety?
