🌿 What Could Falling Water Park Become? 🌿

The Vision Plan imagines a future where nature, wellness, and community come together. Proposed features include scenic walking and nature trails, boardwalks around wetlands and Mt. Gilead Lake, outdoor fitness areas, picnic and play spaces, a community garden, creek access points, and safe parking with lighting and signage.

These ideas are conceptual and guided by environmental stewardship—designed to protect what makes this land special while creating space for people to connect with nature.

📘 Why does a Vision Plan matter?

The Falling Water Park Vision Plan was developed through a community-driven process, guided by Park Pride and shaped by public surveys and meetings.

Environmental protections play a critical role in determining what can be built, ensuring forests, wetlands, and waterways are preserved. Because of this, the plan remains conceptual until funding is secured and City approval is granted.

A Vision Plan isn’t a promise — it’s a roadmap that helps the community plan responsibly and intentionally for the future. 🌿

How Falling Water Park Began 🌿

Did you know Falling Water Park has been part of Atlanta’s future for over 20 years?

In 2004, the City of Atlanta acquired this land using Georgia greenspace conservation funds—with the goal of protecting natural ecosystems and improving park access in Southwest Atlanta.

The name “Falling Water” comes from a former landowner (fun fact: there’s no waterfall on site!), but what is here is something powerful—forests, wetlands, and a vision for equitable access to nature.

This land was preserved with intention—and its future will be shaped by the community. 💚

🌿 What is Falling Water Park?

Falling Water Park is a 26.3-acre future greenspace located in Southwest Atlanta, near D.M. Therrell High School and the Cascade Parc neighborhood.

The site is rich with natural features — including forests, wetlands, ponds, and a creek — and is currently classified as a “park-in-holding.” This means the land is protected while plans are thoughtfully developed for its future use.
