Time for an update on two of our transplant "littles." First there is Paisley who got a kidney from her daddy. It's the first day of pre-k for our little miracle girl. Then there is Macey, our newest "little" who is in CHOA waiting for a heart. They are pretty much on opposite ends of the transplant spectrum. But that makes no difference to us. We love both of them with everything in us!

August 8th...a day we will NEVER forget. Today marks the 16th year since we lost our Jeff. The tears flow less and less each year, but sometimes they still sneak up on me and I just have to go with the flow. The hole in this mom's heart will never be filled and maybe that's a good thing. It's a constant reminder of my boy and a reminder of how much I miss him. Geez...how I miss him! But the Foundation in Jeff's name definitely helps ease the pain. With every new care giver that I meet, the reason for what we are doing becomes extremely clear. Part of the job is giving them a tour of the apartment, explaining the kitchen and what is available, showing them the laundry room (seems to be a favorite!), listening to them decide who gets which bedroom, telling them the story of the cashmere socks and giving them a pair, and discussing everything that is available to them in the apartment complex and also what is expected of them (yes, we have an agreement for them to sign). But then we move on to show them the picture of Jeff on the wall and to tell them our story. That is when emotions arrive on the scene. I have mine just by looking at his picture; they have theirs from telling me their transplant story. And 9 times out of 10, it ends with hugs and tears. A connection is made which stems out of tragedy. Believe me when I say that this is the absolute JOY of my life! I am in a constant state of awe that my Heavenly Father has chosen me for this job. I couldn't have a better employer!!
