In the tradition of showcasing the amazing things our scholars are doing welcome to “5 Strong Friday Features,” where we celebrate our scholars who are doing great things at their HBCU!

We are kicking Fall 2026 off with Gabby Perkins a freshman at Voorhees University. Gabby is already very engaged on campus, as shown in this photo with President Ronnie Hopkins Ph.D. (Dr. Ronnie Hopkins). In addition to being a student-athlete, she was also recently elected 2026 Miss Freshman!

Great start to the recruiting season! Congratulation to the Delta Sigma Theta Southern Region for an amazing “HBCU Impact Day & College Fair”! Over 3,500 students served under one roof, on three floors! It was good to see some of our HBCU partners as well. We were proud to be included, and even more proud to see some of our current scholars and alumni serving! Well done ladies! I can’t wait to see what you have in-store for next year!👏🏾👏🏾🎉🎉

Only at a HBCU…..Stillman College to be exactly, will you find the President and her husband out meeting and greeting the incoming students and their families. Thank you Madam President Yolanda Page for making us feel at home. Move In Day 2026 was done in excellence, and our 5 scholars (Jaylen Kinsey, Joseph Daniels, Reagan Shellman, and Kayleigh Yarbough) were front and center!

With the recruiting season now underway, we are pleased to announce two promotions within the 5 Strong Scholarship Foundation, Inc.

Carolyn Hill has been promoted to Executive Director and will assume day-to-day operations for the Atlanta location after 10 years of working closely with Andrew Ragland who will be specifically in the role of CEO overseeing 5 Strong Atlanta, Houston, grant writing and building partnerships.

Additionally, Sarita Mason has been promoted to Program Director/Admin. As the first 5 Strong graduate from Bethune-Cookman University, Sarita has consistently volunteered at college fairs and our annual events, and currently serves as the coach for Stillman College and Fort Valley State University.

Please join us in congratulating Carolyn and Sarita as they continue to work with Andrew to build on his legacy.
