Today, we remember.
343 firefighters. 60 police officers. 8 EMS personnel. Nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11th, 2001.
Behind every one of those names was someone who was loved. A parent, a partner, a child, a friend. People who went to work that morning and never came home. People who ran into danger while everyone else was running out.
This weekend brought together 236 firefighters from 49 UK and Ireland fire and rescue services, all for one reason: to carry their memory up 110 floors at the Terry Farrell Patriot Day Memorial Stair Climb, the same number of flights those firefighters climbed in the World Trade Center towers. England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland, standing together under their own flags for the same cause.
We didn't climb for a finish line. We climbed so their memory carries a little further, and so what they gave is never forgotten.
Never forget.
