𝗜𝗠𝗔𝗚𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗠𝗘𝗘𝗧𝗦 𝗜𝗡𝗡𝗢𝗩𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡! ⚡

Day 1 of STEAM CAMP at Utopian Academy of the Arts was filled with creativity, discovery, and BIG ideas!

In partnership with the 𝗧.𝗗. 𝗝𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, STE(A)M Truck kicked off Fall Break with an exciting day of hands-on learning through our signature 𝗦𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 experience.

Our young scholars explored the intersection of STEM, art, and design while gaining real-world inspiration from two special guests:

👟 𝗡𝗮𝗻𝗶 𝗘𝗱𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 — Creative behind the Spelman College Nike shoe design.

👟 𝗔𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗿𝗺𝗼𝗻 — Footwear Designer and Educator at Pensole Lewis College.

It was a day of learning, creating, and discovering how today's ideas can become tomorrow's innovations!

Students in grades 5–8 are invited to experience the STE(A)M In-Between: Sneaker Innovation Camp, where they'll discover the creativity, science, technology, and innovation that go into sneaker design.

This hands-on experience is designed to help students strengthen problem-solving, teamwork, and critical-thinking skills while exploring how STE(A)M connects to real-world careers and industries.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗮 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗻’𝘁 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗲𝘁?

The student who is always sketching ideas, building things, figuring out how something works, or asking, “What if we made it this way instead?” may already be developing the thinking of an Industrial Designer.

Career exploration helps parents and educators connect the dots between what students enjoy, what they’re naturally good at, what they can study in college, and where those skills could take them professionally.

𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝗧𝗘(𝗔)𝗠 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗸 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻.

Through hands on experiences in design, technology, engineering, creativity, and problem solving, students get opportunities to explore their interests while discovering careers they may have never known existed.

We don’t have to wait until graduation to ask, “What do you want to be?”

We can start much earlier by helping students see the possibilities in 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗹𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲.

𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗧𝗘(𝗔)𝗠 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗸 as we continue highlighting careers and helping students see what’s possible.

This summer, STE(A)M Truck had the pleasure of welcoming Trenica Smith-Mingo, a volunteer who traveled from South Carolina with a mission: to learn more about STEAM and STEM education and take that knowledge back to communities in her home state.

During her time with us, Trenica joined our team at Flat Rock Middle School in Tyrone, Georgia, where she observed and engaged with students participating in our "Food Without Limits" experience. She got a firsthand look at how hands-on learning can spark curiosity, creativity and problem-solving in young learners.

We’re grateful Trenica chose to spend part of her summer learning, serving and sharing alongside STE(A)M Truck. Thank you for your time, energy and commitment to expanding STEAM opportunities beyond Georgia!

Math is all around us. Now, you can experience it in a whole new way at Pittsburgh Yards!

STE(A)M Truck is excited to introduce the new Math Trail Stations, an interactive walking experience installed throughout the Pittsburgh Yards campus. Designed with math challenges for students in grades K–8, each station invites young learners and their families to look closer, think differently and discover the mathematics within the architecture, design and natural beauty of the campus.

Walk it. Explore it. Solve it. See your surroundings through a mathematical lens!
The Math Trail was made possible through the generous support of the Annie E. Casey Foundation, helping us create more opportunities to take learning beyond the classroom and bring math to life in the world around us.

We can’t wait for students, families and the Pittsburgh Yards community to hit the trail!
