ReadSource, in partnership with The Schenck School, continues to be a long-time and deeply committed literacy partner with Purpose Built Schools Atlanta, bringing The Schenck School Reading Model to approximately 90 students each year at T.H. Slater Elementary School.
The Georgia Department of Education recognized T.H. Slater Elementary again this year as a Literacy Leader School for exceptional achievement and growth in reading.
This honor goes beyond strong scores. It reflects what happens when a community comes together to strengthen literacy, build opportunity, and empower every child with the tools they need to thrive. At its core, teaching kids to read is about so much more than decoding words. It’s about opening doors to empathy, deep and critical thinking, and a lifetime of possibility.
Georgia’s Literacy Leader and Math Leader recognitions celebrate schools that demonstrate extraordinary student progress and proficiency in reading and mathematics on the state's annual assessments. They also underscore the essential importance of grade-level reading and numeracy across elementary and middle school, as well as the tremendous dedication it takes to support students, especially in communities where growth requires even deeper commitment.
As State School Superintendent Richard Woods shared, “Strong literacy and math skills open the door for every opportunity our students will encounter… The schools recognized as Literacy Leaders and Math Leaders have shown a deep commitment to ensuring every student has the tools to succeed.”
We’re honored to be part of that work.
We are teaching kids to read and, in doing so, we are helping shape thoughtful, confident learners who will lead with curiosity and compassion.
