Hillels of Georgia HGA empowers thousands of Jewish students across 13 campuses statewide to feel pride, strength, and belonging in their identity as Jews.

October 7 was a difficult but meaningful day for our students and professionals. Across our campuses, we came together to remember, to honor, to mourn, and to stand in community.

Students lit candles, baked favorite recipes of those murdered three years ago, created clay poppies to remember the victims of the Nova Festival, hosted a traveling 10/7 exhibit, and handed out hundreds of cookies, each accompanied by the personal story of a victim. We held vigils, shared stories of the bravery and tragedy of that day, and created space for one another to grieve, reflect, and remember.

On a difficult day, we found strength in coming together and in making sure these stories, memories, and lives are never forgotten. Am Yisrael Chai.

Today, across our campuses, our Hillel communities are coming together to mark the anniversary of October 7, 2023 - remembering those who were murdered, honoring those whose lives were forever changed, and standing with the people of Israel and Jewish communities everywhere.

As we commemorate, we have unfortunately also already seen acts of antisemitism on our campuses today. We will continue to support our students and communities throughout the day and remain vigilant.

Today is the National Day of Belonging, and Georgia Tech celebrated with a vibrant fair on Tech Green, right in the heart of campus.

Among the many booths, Hillel at Georgia Tech hosted Bagels & Belonging, where 204 students signed a pledge to stand up against antisemitism and hatred of all kinds…and, of course, grabbed a bagel and schmear along the way! 🥯

The event was organized and led by Tech Hillel student Samantha as her capstone project for the Leven-Silberman Leadership Institute Fellowship, our yearlong program that equips students with mentorship, practical leadership skills, and opportunities to put those skills into action.

Kol hakavod to Samantha for bringing Bagels & Belonging to life and to all 204 students who took a stand for belonging, inclusion, and a campus community free from hate. 🐝

Every year, the Stand with Hillel Gala gives us the opportunity to celebrate the impact of Hillels of Georgia, share the stories of our students, and express our gratitude to the supporters who make this work possible.

We are also proud to recognize the exceptional community leaders whose vision and generosity help move our work forward. This year, it is our distinct pleasure to honor Linda & Mark Silberman with the Billi & Bernie Marcus Visionary Award.

Linda and Mark’s longstanding commitment to Hillel has helped shape and strengthen our work in meaningful ways. Most recently, their generosity and leadership made possible the launch of the Leven-Silberman Leadership Institute, creating new opportunities to develop the next generation of Jewish leaders.

Pop quiz: how many Hillel at UGA and Hillel at KSU students does it take to build a sukkah?

Shabbat Shalom from Hillels of Georgia! 💙

It was wonderful gathering with parents from our Hillel at UGA community this week. We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect, celebrate our students, and strengthen the community that makes Jewish life on campus so meaningful.

As we head into Yom Kippur on Monday, we wish our students, families, and community a meaningful holiday.
