Building Bridges Stateside

Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed’s visit to the United States is unique in that its purpose is solely to engage the vast Diaspora community; as opposed to meetings with community leaders and luminaries tucked as an aside to diplomatic trips. Such commitment reinforces the concern the PM has already shown with regard to the welfare and dignity of Ethiopians around the globe. Concrete steps and actions taken subsequent to such engagements show the PM’s capacity to back up his words with action.

The Principal Committee, composed of members of civic groups and organisations as well as relevant entities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has been working towards making the PM’s visit to the US as effective and successful as possible. The committee, convened in early May, has been coordinating its efforts with sub-committees set up in Washington DC and Los Angeles. The two cities were selected as convenient centers to those commuting from across the United States.

The US based committees reflect the spirit of current changes championed by PM Dr. Abiy – they’re composed of disparate religious, political, ethnic views and beliefs; previously not know to have worked together as a cohesive unit to achieve a common goal. They have joined in order to contribute freely; without reservation or limitation. Followers of all persuasions and beliefs are still welcome to join this cause, with either supporting or opposing views. The platform is open to all, with no need to stand on ceremony or awaiting formal invitations. Please follow those who are not known as having worked or engaged with such events previously, or have simply refused to work with such entities; BUT are inspired enough to volunteer and contribute; ARE YOU READY TEAR DOWN WALLS AND BUILD BRIDGES?
