Teams for Troops

Teams for Troops 501(c)3 sending pro & college sports team care-packages to deployed military personnel. Moreover, we promote research concerning traumatic brain injuries.

Whether it is tailgating, rooting for our favorite players, or cheering on an age-old rivalry, our country loves sporting events. What shouldn't be overlooked is the fact that troops are fans too. While they're fighting the good fight overseas, they're missing out on sporting events at home. Teams For Troops, a registered not-for-profit, allocates donations to fund care-packages from sports teams

and their fans to deployed military personnel. The care-packages include sports memorabilia, like jerseys and equipment, as well as trinkets and merchandise from professional and college sports teams. Additionally, when the troops return to the United States, they will be given the opportunity to attend sporting events with their families, free of charge. Furthermore, Teams For Troops promotes research concerning traumatic brain injuries, which is a growing issue for veterans and athletes alike. They're fighting for the one team we're all a part of, so help us give them the opportunity to root for the sports team they enjoy the most. After all, from the playing field to the battlefield, our troops are fans too.

CTE (and TBI) come from a wide variety of variables. May this officer rest in peace.

A North Carolina officer who died by su***de may be the first known police officer in the United States to have suffered from chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE, according to a new report.

Brent Simpson took his own life on July 1, 2024, and his widow learned about his CTE diagnosis earlier this year. The condition has been widely documented in professional athletes, but has rarely been diagnosed in law enforcement officers: http://www.11alive.com/article/news/health/cmpd-officer-brent-simpson-cte-diagnosis-first-confirmed-case-police-law-enforcement/275-d8c986ff-e27a-4752-8f50-eb1836d8bf46?utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook_11Alive

Another care package going out the door!

Taking this chance to remind our followers that this is a 100% volunteer organization. We make $0.00 from this. We make $0.00 for our time. We put our own money plus donations into the Teams For Troops merchandise as well as all sports team memorabila, tickets, and events regarding traumatic brain injury awareness.

Because of that, we're sometimes slow to respond - but we'll get there soon enough!

Thank you all for the almost 10 years of support. Our servicemembers are still fighting the good fight overseas and we'll be lifting morale when we can!

After all, from the playing field to the battlefield; troops are fans too!

This week we celebrate America's independence.

But what does it mean to have independence?

Do you make the most of that independence?

Do you recognize what Americans went through and continue to go through in order to obtain and secure that independence?

In our country, if you're reading this; every morning when you wake, you have a choice to be free.

To live your life to the fullest.

To take advantage of the opportunities, programs, processes, and experiences to better yourself and the lives of those around you.

So do it.

Wake up earlier, work harder, study more, love more, do better, be better, help others, be kinder, develop yourself, train others, lead, get involved, be a good example, tend to your family's needs, take care of yourself - just do it.

Because you can.

Because you're free.

And if you don't think you live in the best country in the world, ask yourself what you're doing to make it better.

Then do more.

Enjoy your Independence Day, America.

Go make the most of it!

Demaryius Thomas had the degenerative brain disease known as chronic traumatic encephalopathy or CTE, which is linked to repeated blows to the head, according to an announcement Tuesday by doctors from Boston University who had been studying the former NFL star's brain.

CTE has been found in many veterans who have had TBI, due to explosions or concussion blasts in general. It is believed to lead to anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts.

Thomas was found dead in his Roswell, Georgia, home this past Dec. 9, just 15 days before his 34th birthday. At the time, his family believed seizures, which Thomas had battled since a 2019 car crash, might have led to his death. The coroner's office in Fulton County, Georgia, has not yet ruled on the cause of death.
