Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America-Georgia Unite ALL Georgia Veterans focused on building the capacity of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans, their families, and their survivors. We stand ready to lead again.

IAVA in Georgia is directly financially mentored and supported by VAAB DeKalb. IAVA is the first and largest non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of Iraq and Afganistan veterans, their families, and their survivors. Mission
Provide IAVA members in Georgia the support needed to reach their potential as civic leaders and models of responsible American citizenship. Company Overview

IAVA-Metropolitan Atlanta is directly responsible to IAVA national headquarters in NYC to provide members the support needed to reach their potential as civic leaders and models of responsible American citizenship. IAVA-Metropolitan Atlanta will accomplish our mission by providing leadership in three key areas:

•Assistance
-Providing our members a community of peers.
-Local support through IAVA “Squads” dedicated to social, service, success, AND sports.
- Regular events
- Linking members with resources/programs to address ongoing transition needs.
* IAVA.org.
* local resources and partner veteran service organizations (VSO).


•Awareness
- Support IAVA national awareness campaigns.
- Increase local awareness of veterans’ issues.
- Promote civic responsibility based on military core values.
- Join with other-era veterans and civilian supporters to accomplish our goal.

•Advocacy
- Support IAVA national legislative priorities at the state and local level.
- Engage public and private sector stakeholders and enlist their support.
- In word and deed, promote ideals of equal opportunity, equal liberty, and shared sacrifice. Our nation is increasingly polarized, fragmented and partisan. Who better to reverse this trend and set a new standard of citizenship than those who have served in uniform? Our nation looks to us for leadership. Google is committing to help 25,000 veterans and military family members build careers in the skilled trades.

The funding goes to three organizations: Hiring Our Heroes, Student Veterans of America and the Home Builders Institute. Together, they'll offer pre-apprenticeships, career coaching and direct job placement.

Hundreds of thousands of skilled trade jobs are open across the U.S. These include roles like master electrician, lead pipefitter and project manager.

Veterans are a strong fit - Tim Chadwick leads Google's data center operations in Ohio and Indiana. He spent 20 years in the Navy, including 13 as a submarine officer.

He says the skills he used running a submarine are the same ones he uses overseeing data centers. Planning, leading teams and making sound decisions under pressure all carry over.

This builds on Google's earlier work in the trades, which includes co-founding the Alliance for America's Skilled Trades with Ford Motor Company, BlackRock and Carhartt.

Google.org is supporting organizations to help veterans and military families find careers in skilled trades.

The U.S. has six branches of the armed forces — the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Space Force and Coast Guard — and two additional uniformed services, the USPHS Commissioned Corps and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Commissioned Officer Corps.

The U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps is working to connect with the armed forces.
