We are deeply saddened to share that S. Kulbir Singh (1949-2025), a visionary and mentor, has left us. He departed on March 30, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of selflessness, compassion, and dedication.

S. Kulbir Singh was a beacon of hope for families affected by the 1984 carnage, tirelessly working to secure government jobs and pensions for widows and families. His unwavering commitment to their welfare inspired countless individuals, and his selfless service will be deeply missed.

He played a pivotal role in establishing the Nishkam Tuition Centre and Nishkam Music Centre, providing critical support to families in need. These institutions, born out of the devastation of 1984, stood as testaments to his vision and perseverance.

As we mourn his loss, we remember his remarkable life, which embodied the values of Seva and Sarbat da Bhala. His spirit remains eternal, and his legacy will continue to inspire future generations.

Rest in peace, S. Kulbir Singh. Your selflessness, compassion, and dedication will never be forgotten.

*Shaping Futures &
Forging bonds with Forgotten Sikligar Sikhs’

In Keeping with its mission for over 20 years, Nishkam has been empowering Sikligar children with education across 7 states. Currently Nishkam is supporting 1700+ students annually & actively reinforces bond of love and trust with Sikligar families.

On March 22, 2025, Nishkam hosted an impressive get-together with 60+ Sikligar families at Nishkam Bhawan. Sukligar Students and parents from Haryana, UP, and Rajasthan attended a career counselling session, exploring career options & skill development.

Enthusiastic participation from girl students, accompanied by their parents, marked a significant breakthrough in the Sikligar community highlighting trust and confidence that Nishkam &
Education has brought in them.

The event featured inspiring stories of success from accomplished individuals who had achieved success with Nishkam's financial support. Valuable insights were also shared by village coordinators, highlighting key areas of focus.

The day concluded with a ‘langar’ and one-on-one meetings between students and Nishkam's sevadars, comprising professionals and veterans from diverse fields. These dedicated individuals bring their expertise and experience to guide and mentor Sikligar students, empowering them to shape a brighter future.

Nishkam Tuition Center's 6-day camp concluded with an enlightening trip to Delhi's iconic National Rail Museum, Air Force Museum and Nehru Park.

Our students discovered the remarkable progress of Indian Railways since 1853, including impressive technological advancements. They marveled at the display of India's first steam engine, the Fairy Queen (1855).

They were explained the gallantry of Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, a Param Vir Chakra awardee. He was a hero of the 1971 Indo-Pak War, who bravely defended Srinagar Airport against Pakistani air raids. They were marvelled to learn about Air Commodore Mehar Singh. Out of his many achievements, the mission led by Baba Mehar Singh carrying the first contingent of Indian Army in a Dakota aircraft to Srinagar in 1948 is the most memorable.

Our children enthusiastically explored fighter aircraft from World War and subsequent years.

The day was made even more special as all the children shared a meal together at Nehru Park, fostering camaraderie and strengthening the bonds of friendship and brotherhood.

Exposure to such experiences is crucial for inspiring our children to excel in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

🌍📖 International Mother Language Day was celebrated with enthusiastic fervour by Nishkam Sikh Welfare Council enthusiastically celebrated on Feb 21.
📚 Students, teachers, staff members, and Punjabi language aficionado were enthused by inspiring remarks of S. Mohinder Singh Talib, a dedicated advocate for the Punjabi language, who enlightened the children about the significance of their mother tongue.
📖 Poetry recitations, presentations, and a Punjabi language quiz were the main attractions of the program.
🏆 Honors & Recognition:
🎖 Young educators Gurmeet Singh and Balwinder Singh from Tilak Vihar, who are committed to teaching Punjabi to children, were honored for their contributions. Balwinder Singh emphasized the importance of taking pride in one's mother tongue.
🎤 Sweet Voices of Childhood:
🌹 Jasleen Kaur, a 4th-grade student, captivated the audience by reciting Bhai Vir Singh’s poem "Gulab Da Phool."
🏑 Harnam Singh, a 5th-grade student, shared insights about legendary hockey player Dhyan Chand in Punjabi.
🎁 Participants were given commemorative gifts as a token of appreciation.
💖 Nishkam reaffirms its commitment to preserving and promoting mother languages across all regions and communities, ensuring that we continue to take pride in our Punjabi virsa & linguistic heritage.

Team Nishkam Sikligar visited Sonipat, as a part of outreach mission and interacted with Principals, Teachers and 72 Sikligar students at Jakhauli, Aurangabad & Devli being supported by the Council for quite sometime.
Dedicated to the vision of imparting life skills, providing education at all levels & empowering them to become proud members of Sikh community, Team also identified talented and meritorious students to offer them special focus and holistic support including funding to further their academic careers.

Last month in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, our team encountered a family living in unimaginable conditions—a 75-year-old Gursikh man, his bedridden daughter-in-law, and her 4-month-old baby, struggling to survive.
💔 Lost their sole breadwinner.
💔 Surviving on a ₹1000 pension and goat milk.
💔 Living in a collapsed slum hut.
