Our Story
The founder of Dream To Live Outreach is a seasoned community social worker who was once homeless, struggling single parent. She used to do nails on the bunk beds of the Salvation Army just to remain in the shelter. Once she had to pay a water bill, she made hairbows and sold them until she had enough to pay the water bill. Dream to Live was started to help people in financial hardship. It wasn’t until a few years back when the founder thought of an idea to help teach skilled crafts to low income women so that they can supplement their already low income. That is how Craft2Biz was born. After realizing that crafting helped her struggles, she felt the need to start a program to help other women. The Craft2Biz offers workshops for low-income women. The “2” is for two objectives, to learn a new craft and to sell crafts as a supplemental income. Currently, we are pending grants and hope to secure a solid grant to kick start this great vision. It has already piloted, but some sustainability is needed through monetary and in-kind donations. The ideology of Craft2Biz is to the likeness of the old Chinese proverb..."Tell me, I'll forget. Show me, I'll remember. Involve me, I'll understand"
