đź«’How do you buy olive oil?

On a beautiful, autumn, Saturday morning, Atlanta Dames gathered at Star Provisions to welcome an inspiring guest: Dame Marie-Charlotte Piro.

đź’™ Dame Marie-Charlotte is the co-founder (with her brother) of award winning Olio Piro, premium Tuscan extra virgin olive oil, and a founding member of the LDEI Italy chapter. Her passion and
dedication to her craft was clear in every story she shared.

Over coffee and pastries, Marie-Charlotte showed us how to choose a good olive oil, starting with what to look for on the label.

“Look for a glass bottle, the harvest date, providence of the olives and you’re good. You know you have a very good chance to have a very good olive oil,” she explained.

Watch the clip and you’ll never shop the olive oil aisle the same way again.

Along with her brother Romain they grow their olives in Southern Tuscany, on 300-year-old trees on the slopes of Mount Amiata.

With expanding distribution Piro has been available in the States since 2020. An e-commerce site also offers products.

Products include: luxury extra virgin olive oils Olio Piro, Cucino and its newest product PiroMD for daily health. It also owns Acetaia Bonini, a traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena, Italy.

GEORGIA PEANUT INNOVATION AWARD

The $10k Georgia Peanut Innovation Award (GPIA) will recognize the most original peanut application in a new food product or product concept.

The product can be intended for either human or animal consumption. It can be a prototype or already produced. If produced, it must be new to the market (available less than 12 months).

Details
Entry is free but limited to one concept per participant.
All submissions are due by Aug. 20, 2026.
Finalists will be announced on Sept. 15, 2026, and notified via email.
Each finalist will be asked to submit 5 product samples via registered mail.
Samples must be received by October 1, 2026.

This scholarship could be the first step in a young women’s career dream in culinary, pastry arts, farming, beverage management, hospitality, agriculture or related course work.

Since 2001, the Atlanta Chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier International has been pleased to offer annual Scholarships for Education and Continuing Education Grants to female applicants. This annual program provides a minimum $1,000 award to aspiring women.

đź’™ We traded the digital grid for a meet up!

The LDEI Atlanta Communications Committee took things offline this week for a much-needed happy hour at Wild Heaven B**r in Toco Hills. It was so much fun to see our Dame friends in real life, rather than through the little square boxes of a Zoom screen.

A huge thank you to our wonderful host, Dame Sarah Young, for her hospitality. There’s truly no substitute for the energy of real-time connection, great b**r, hugs, laughter, and conversations.
