Dear Higher Community,

I am excited to announce the official launch of The Higher Foundation Salon! We are now accepting applications for our free haircare services and appointments for our affordable haircare services. Visit www.higherfoundation.org/salon to learn more.

This program is special to me for a myriad of reasons, and I hope The Higher Community loves it as much as I do. During The Higher Salon Pilot, I received feedback from parents, educators, and students to make our program as comprehensive and as sustainable as possible. As we run this program for the 2026-27 academic year, I will keep my eyes, ears, and heart open to community feedback.

I believe haircare is a basic need, not a luxury, so we are making haircare more accessible for Georgia K-12 students and educators. It's about educational equity and teacher appreciation.

Let's keep taking Georgia higher.

We are inviting passionate leaders, advocates, and community-minded professionals to apply for The Higher Advisory Council.

The Higher Advisory Council plays a vital role in strengthening and stabilizing The Higher Foundation by helping secure the resources needed to advance our mission. As a Higher Advisor, you’ll serve a 12-month term with an individual fundraising goal of $10,000.

This is an opportunity to leverage your network, influence, and passion to help create meaningful impact while joining a community of individuals committed to investing in the future of The Higher Foundation.

What to Expect
- 12-month advisory term
- $10,000 individual fundraising goal
- Opportunity to expand your leadership and community impact
- A chance to help strengthen the Foundation’s long-term sustainability
- Performance evaluation at the conclusion of your term for potential reappointment

At the end of each term, The Higher Foundation Board of Directors evaluates each Higher Advisor’s individual performance to determine reappointment eligibility. Membership on The Higher Foundation Board of Directors is by invitation only; based on a majority vote, Higher Advisors may or may not be invited to apply.

Applications are accepted year-round on a rolling basis. Applicants will receive an application update within 4 weeks of submission.

She believes that bullying is real, and it requires our immediate attention. She was bullied in school for her hair, her clothes, and her weight. Her childhood experiences made her vow to do all that she could to prevent her kids and anyone else from being bullied due to their appearance.
