This is the last week of April, a month recognized as Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Month and Sexual Assault Awareness Month, including Military Sexual Trauma.
While April brings focused awareness, this work does not end here. Awareness, education, advocacy, and support must remain a year-round commitment to the well-being and safety of our communities.
The reality is disheartening: at least 1 in 4 women experience sexual violence in their lifetime.
In the U.S., someone is sexually assaulted every minute, and every nine minutes, that person is a child. Many cases go unreported.
As we move into Mental Health Awareness Month (May), PTSD Awareness Month (June), and Minority Mental Health Awareness Month/BIPOC Mental Health Awareness Month (July), we are reminded that the impact of sexual violence is not isolated; it intersects with mental health, identity, and access to care.
At Ignite Transformation Institute for the Wellness of Women, Inc., our mission is to support healing through access to psychotherapy, education, and trauma-informed care.
This work continues intentionally and with deep care.
If it is on your heart, I invite you to support this mission. Your donation of any amount helps expand access to services, advocacy, and spaces for restoration.
Because healing should be accessible, not a privilege.
