A room full of parents. A shared commitment to helping their kids thrive. And plenty of conversation, encouragement, and connection along the way. 💙

Recently, parents gathered at Bay Creek Middle School for our Raising Highly Capable Kids program to learn practical tools for strengthening family relationships, building resilience, setting healthy boundaries, and helping their children grow in confidence.

And perhaps just as importantly, they found a community of parents who are figuring it out, too.

A love of reading can open a world of possibilities for a child. 📚

Few people have championed that idea as enthusiastically as Dolly Parton. Through her work to put books into the hands of children, she’s helped inspire a love of reading and learning in families around the world.

At GCO, we share the belief that strong literacy skills can help unlock a child’s potential. That’s why we’re committed to advancing education policies that help every Georgia student build the foundation they need to learn, grow, and pursue their dreams.

What happens when a class ends, but the relationships continue? ❤️

BETTER WORK Jobs for Life graduates, facilitators, and champions recently came together in Gwinnett to reconnect, share stories, and celebrate how far they’ve come.

Graduates reflected on their experiences and shared how the program helped them overcome barriers, grow in confidence, and find purpose in their careers.

The reunion was not only about looking back. It was about being reminded that they still have reasons to keep moving forward.

Hope makes opportunity visible.

For someone facing unemployment, a difficult family situation, or barriers created by the systems around them, the path forward isn’t always easy to see.

Opportunity can help change that. When barriers are removed, relationships are strengthened, and people have a real path forward, they can begin to see what’s possible for their future.

“When I started, I had less faith and hope. Now I have hope in my future, belief in my abilities, and less fear of failing along my process.”

Walter’s journey through BETTER WORK gave him an opportunity to rebuild hope and begin imagining what his future could look like.

Along the way, his classmates, mentors, and champions reminded him that he wasn’t walking this journey alone. Their encouragement showed Walter that people were rooting for him and believed in what he could become.

Today, he’s looking ahead with a vision of owning his own business, creating jobs in his community, and mentoring others as they work toward their own futures.

We’re proud to celebrate Walter and the first graduating class of the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office as they take their next steps toward brighter futures. 💙

For a while, Ayonia Shipp couldn’t see the future she once imagined for herself.
She had worked hard, earned her degree, built a career, and dreamed of one day owning a trucking company. But after losing her job and facing setback after setback, it became harder to believe that the future she wanted was still possible.

Then she found BETTER WORK.

What she discovered wasn’t just a path toward employment. She met a community that helped her recognize the strengths she had started to lose sight of and the confidence to keep moving forward.

“I now know what I am capable of.”

Today, Ayonia is working, setting new goals, raising her daughter Dior, and continuing to pursue the future she once thought was out of reach.

Her story is a reminder that sometimes, people don’t need someone to tell them what they’re capable of. They need a community willing to walk alongside them until they can see it for themselves again.

Parents gathered at Neighborhood Cooperative Ministries this week with a shared hope: to help their kids grow, thrive, and become all they’re capable of being.

The first session of Raising Highly Capable Kids (RHCK) brought parents together to learn, share, laugh, ask questions, and connect with others who are navigating the same journey.

Over the next 9 sessions, they’ll build practical tools for stronger relationships, healthy boundaries, resilience, and confidence.

We’re so glad to be walking alongside these families. Here’s to the conversations, connections, and growth ahead. 💙

Our BETTER WORK Jobs for Life class at Muscogee County Jail in Columbus recently celebrated a graduation, marking a meaningful milestone for a group of people who have taken important steps toward a new chapter in their lives.

These graduates have worked through challenges, found confidence again, and are leaving the class more equipped to pursue purposeful work.

They were presented with certificates to celebrate completing the class, but what they’re taking with them goes far beyond an award. They’re taking resources, hope, and a renewed belief that a different future is possible.

And most importantly, they’re moving forward knowing they’re not alone.
We’re proud of every graduate who showed up, kept going, and chose to believe in new possibilities.

There are some rooms you walk into and immediately know: something special is happening here.

Our BETTER WORK Jobs for Life reunion in Gwinnett was one of those.

There was food on the table, laughter in the room, families gathered together, and a little friendly competition during speed networking. Graduates, facilitators, and champions shared real stories about what life has looked like since these individuals first stepped into the classroom.

People also talked about how they’ve overcome shyness and found the courage to speak in front of a room.

There were happy tears, honest conversations, and plenty of fellowship.
The gathering was a reminder that transformation doesn’t happen alone. Sometimes what we need most is a community that sees us, believes in us, and walks with us.
