Last month was , and CIS Atlanta staff partnered with North Clayton High School staff and administrators to host an Ice Cream Social celebrating students and encouraging consistent attendance. 🍦💙

More than a treat, the event created a fun, welcoming moment to recognize students for staying engaged and connected to their school community.

North Clayton High School plans to keep that momentum going with monthly incentives that boost student morale, encourage engagement, and help create a positive school environment.

Because every day in class increases a student’s opportunity to learn, build relationships, and stay on track toward graduation!

🐝 Buzzing about Georgia Tech? Our CIS Atlanta students are!

CIS Site Coordinator T. Green at North Clayton High School recently brought Georgia Tech to students for a small-group session designed to help seniors feel more confident about the college application process.

Students got an inside look at admissions, application requirements, and best practices for putting together strong, accurate college applications. Even better, they had the opportunity to ask questions and receive personalized guidance as they prepare for what comes next.

It’s one more way CIS site coordinators connect students to people, resources, and opportunities that help them take charge of their futures. 💙

Communities In Schools of Atlanta® surrounds students with a network of trusted relationships from site coordinators and educators to families and community partners, so they know they don’t have to navigate challenges alone.

For many of our Site Coordinators, supporting students is deeply personal.

They see parts of their own stories in the young people they serve. They recognize some of the same challenges, questions, and fears.

They also understand how having the right person in their corner made all the difference.

Site Coordinators' own experiences can become a point of connection: “I understand. I’ve been there. And I’m here with you.”

Sometimes, being present means helping a student see the possibility you once needed someone to see in you. We are so grateful that our Site Coordinators bring all of their experiences, wisdom, and insight to meet students right where they are.

Celebrating Leadership, Legacy & Opportunity in Washington, D.C.!

Communities In Schools of Atlanta® was proud to have our CEO, Frank Brown, attend the 55th Anniversary Celebration of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation in Washington, D.C.. He was joined by two outstanding CIS of Atlanta alumni and current college students, Todd and Mi'Qyra.

Founded in 1976, the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation was established to advance the global Black community by developing leaders, informing policy, and educating the public. For five decades, CBCF has served as a vital platform for leadership development, civic engagement, and creating pathways for future generations.

As we honor this historic milestone, we are especially proud that Todd and Mi'Qyra had the opportunity to experience the energy, inspiration, and impact of CBCF firsthand. Engaging with national leaders, policymakers, and changemakers helps equip our alumni to become tomorrow's leaders and advocates.

Thank you to the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation for 55 years of empowering voices, expanding opportunities, and investing in the future.

Sometimes being present comes with sparkles! ✨

When students at Banneker High School needed dresses for Prom and the ROTC Ball, Yolanda Ward, a CIS Atlanta site coordinator, got to work. Together with partners at Hungry Hearts, they created a “Say Yes to the Dress” experience where students could choose from more than 150 new and gently used dresses and accessories.

And every young woman who attended found a gown. ✨

That’s the power of caring adults, strong community partnerships, and showing up for students in big and small ways.
