On average, $1,544 per month.💰

As the cost of living continues to rise, many Atlantans are being priced out of rental apartments and homes, and being forced to find alternatives, often in worse conditions.

We work to close this affordability gap, by identifying affordable rental units, and removing the financial barriers of move-in that can hold families back.

But what is chronic homelessness?

It refers to those who have experienced homelessness for an extended period of time or repeatedly, often while living with a disabling condition.

This increase is a reminder that lasting impact requires more than temporary solutions.

The Atlanta Regional Commission recently previewed Housing Forward 2035, a regional strategy focused on expanding housing production and closing the affordability gap.

Their goal: 367,000 new homes by 2035, including a significant increase in homes affordable to households earning $55,000 or less.

“Without Open Doors, I would not be in the position I am today.”

After being suddenly displaced from his rental home in Conyers, Veteran Vick and his wife found themselves on the brink of homelessness and living out of a hotel. After being connected with one of our Housing Support Navigators, he was able to secure housing for his family within 30 days.

Vick’s story is a powerful reminder of how quickly housing instability can change a family’s life, and how life-changing it can be to have the right support at the right time.
