Please join us in congratulating our 2026 Adrian B. Wade Book Scholarship recipients, Evana Coleman and Charli Jackson!

Evana is a sophomore at Prairie View A&M University majoring in History, and Charli is a senior at Clark Atlanta University majoring in Biology.

Both of these young women have experienced the loss of a parent while continuing to pursue their education. Their stories are a reminder of the strength it takes to keep moving forward while navigating grief.

Through Girls Beyond Grief, we are honored to award each of them a $500 scholarship to help support their educational journeys.

This scholarship holds a special place in our hearts, as it was created to honor the life and legacy of Adrian B. Wade and his belief in the importance of education.

To everyone who donated, purchased a raffle ticket, or shared our fundraiser, thank you. Your generosity made these scholarships possible for the second year in a row.

Evana and Charli, we are so proud of you! We hope you continue to pursue your dreams, knowing that you have a community cheering you on every step of the way.

Congratulations, ladies! 🤍

I may have been an adult in everyone else’s eyes, but 10-year-old me is who actually sat front row at my dad’s funeral. Grief has a way of making you feel like a child again, no matter how old you are. In that moment, I wasn’t 21. I was just a little girl who wanted her dad. Forever your baby girl. 🤍

As the new school year approaches and I read through the outpouring of scholarship applications, I’ve found myself reflecting on how much Girls Beyond Grief has grown because of the love and support from so many of you.

One of the most meaningful things we do each year is award the Adrian B. Wade Scholarship, created in honor of my dad. As someone who lost a parent while in college, I know how difficult it can be to keep showing up for classes, assignments, and graduation while carrying grief.

Last year, because of your generosity, we were able to award scholarships to two incredible young women—one attending Emory University and the other attending Texas Woman’s University in Denton. Watching them receive those scholarships reminded me exactly why this mission matters.

This year, our goal is to raise $1,000 to fund our second annual scholarship. Thanks to your support, we’re already halfway there with $500 raised! 🤍

If you’d like to help us cross the finish line by August 31, there are a few ways you can support:

🎓 Make a donation through the Donate tab on our website (link in bio).
🎟️ Purchase a $25 raffle ticket for a chance to win 2 tickets to The R&B Tour (Night 2) in Atlanta (link in bio).
💵 Cash App: $gbgfoundation1

Whether you’ve donated before, shared one of our posts, encouraged me along the way, or simply believed in this vision from the beginning—thank you. Your support means more than you know, and together we’re helping young women feel seen, supported, and encouraged as they pursue their education after the loss of a parent.

Thank you for continuing to help me honor my dad’s legacy. 🤍

Counting as many wins as I can this Father’s Day weekend 😭🤍

In all seriousness, Father’s Day has never gotten easier for me. I’ve just learned to laugh through some of the hard parts.

If you’re missing your dad this weekend, I’m holding space for you. 🤍

🎓Applications are now OPEN for the 2026 Adrian B. Wade Book Scholarship! 💕

This year, Girls Beyond Grief will award TWO $500 scholarships to young women who have experienced the loss of a parent while pursuing higher education.

When my dad passed away, one of the hardest parts was learning how to carry grief while still showing up for classes, deadlines, and the future I was working toward. This scholarship was created to remind young women that they don’t have to navigate that journey alone.

Eligible applicants must be currently enrolled in a college, university, or technical school in Georgia or Texas.

📅 Application Opens: June 15, 2026
📅 Application Deadline: August 31, 2026
📅 Recipients Announced: September 15, 2026

My heart gets incredibly heavy around this time every year.

Next week will be my 6th Father’s Day without my dad. You’d think by now I’d be a little more prepared for it, but honestly, it hits me like a brick every single year.

Grief has a way of reminding you that love doesn’t disappear just because time has passed.

This is your gentle reminder that your friends living without their parents may need a little extra love, grace, and understanding this time of year. 🤍

Healing doesn’t always happen in silence.

Sometimes it happens on a mat.
With music.
With matcha.
With women who understand.

This is what community care looks like🤍🍵🎶
